Without a ton of success, but at least they got a few people saved from the cholera, and maybe some more rippling effects in terms of inspiration or particular individuals saved.
Gordon says the offer is a trick and he turned down the last such offer he got for exactly the same reason.
... well, this is Gordon, so it's more a case of him pausing, rolling his eyes a little, and going on about his business than actively saying anything. You get the idea, though.
Apparently, like most Star Wars background characters, that guy with the yellow streak on his face was given a name, Quinlan Vos and when the Republic comic book writers were looking for a new character, they decided he'd be neat to use.
Fast-forward to Revenge of the Sith and Lucas liked the comic character so much he tried to write him into the screenplay but Vos wouldn't fit. So instead, he got a mention as one of the Republics generals.
If you ever get a chance to, watch the Clone Wars. They do a much better job of making interesting stories and characterizations. Anakin actually doesn't come across as a whiny little shit! Instead he is a impulsive and self-focused little shit, but even then, there are times when you care about him.
Even if Quin s only in one episode and does do much.
One day I will hopefully get the chance. I've heard good things about that series!
And now I am pondering Ibani having Anakin as an apprentice. >.< Well, she'd be better than Palpatine, for sure! (To be fair, it would be hard to be worse.)
Katya says she would have like to have known that odd Dark Other was a Mirror, and then she would have known not to attack him. (This is a lie - she would have gone for him anyway, she just would have done it alone since it was doomed to fail, and then no one else would be hurt.)
Jemma would have made sure their designs for the weather-changing machine never made it out of the lab. Seriously. Much more trouble than it's worth.
Sam wishes she'd known the bomb was going to hit their house. Maybe if they'd gotten up right when the sirens first started up and gotten downstairs...
Oswin would have like to have known the ship she signed up with was going to hit a Dalek planet. And, y'know, NOT signed up with that ship. Clara would have like to have known that London is a very very bad place to live in her universe and Moved Elsewhere. Seriously, anywhere else is fine. Well, except Cardiff.
Balthazar would like to have known when rubber soles on shoes were going to become popular. He bought a pair on accident (the clerk just said they'd be more comfortable, nothing about rubber and not conducting electricity!) and nearly got his ass kicked by a newbie Morganian. Embarrassing.
Blakeney... would have liked to have either a) gone up on deck five minutes later or b) known he could escape to Milliways if he tried after the injury. ... Either would be nice.
Glorfindel would deeply and sincerely love to go back and beat Maeglin within an inch of his worthless life, then drop him into the deepest dungeon possible in Gondolin, before he ever gets the chance to betray them. He'd... really enjoy that, actually. It's not something he'd own up to, ever.
Bones... Well. He'd say he'd have avoided marrying his ex-wife, but then his daughter wouldn't have been born and he simply adores his daughter, even if he doesn't get to spend much (any) time with her. He'd say he would have spent less time at the hospital, tried harder to make the marriage work, but he knows himself - he's a doctor first, and there's simply no way he could have cut any of that time out without compromising what he truly believes to be the best patient care he can provide. Actually, the only regret that he has that he thinks he could have actually done better on is he really, truly wishes he could go back and time and stop himself from turning off his dad's life support. They were so close to a cure, he just didn't know it.
Thor would change Loki falling into the void. No question. Yeah, they'd have plenty of stuff to work out from there, but he's firm in his belief that they could have.
If there were a point earlier that could have changed things from going down as they did, he'd pick that instead, but Loki's 'death' is the immediately obvious thing to change.
Cosette... gosh, I don't know. Her mother's death, maybe; she doesn't really know the details, and she doesn't want to change all the rest of her own childhood, but I think she'd feel a responsibility to pick that, now that she's met her in Milliways. Otherwise, at this point in her life she has some major unanswered questions for her quasi-uncle, and also just generally misses him, so if she could have him survive maybe that.
River... I don't know. That's gonna take some more thought. Once it would have been easy -- she'd've undone going to the Academy in a heartbeat, for a long while -- but that's not so true anymore. She still hates the Academy, but she wouldn't want to give up everything she got afterward; it's too much a part of her.
Regan, however, would still change sending River to the Academy, and still choose that in a heartbeat.
Clare would still change Teresa's death, if she could.
Trowa is another one who's going to take some thought. Hmm.
The only two I can really think of: Lois would change her mom dying.
Tavi is more or less sure that changing the past is a terrible idea. But if he had to pick one thing? Despite feeling hugely guilty about it, it wouldn't be reversing Septimus's death. He'd pick that, at Second Calderon, he still met Kitai and they still bonded, but either they or Doroga managed to kill the still-weak new vord queen or simply didn't wake her at all.
Will would want to not get caught by the Sheriff, there are ripples from that, but to him that put too many people he cares for in danger.
Charles hasn't reached a point to regret yet, give him time and then he'll have a long list mainly involving Raven and Erik.
Quentin, hm, I'm not sure, there are moments that he wishes he'd acted better in but nothing that he wouldn't want to have done.
Ivan, I don't know either.
William has too many, he wishes he could have somehow saved his father or made it so Mark was never sick or find a way for them not to be in debt to the Hollanders, far too many options for him.
Jane wishes she could have that letter not arrive to Tom's uncle.
Moist as yet doesn't have anything, give him time.
Sameth, it used to be he would say not running away from Belisaere but that led to him doing what he needed to, which makes it not work anymore. Maybe be more honest about how much being Abhorsen-in-Waiting didn't suit him.
Tumnus would have not taken up the Witch's original offer to spy for her in the Lantern Waste.
Demeter, she doesn't actually have anything I can think of at the moment.
X would stop the bus explosion at the X-Mansion that killed of the depowered X-men kids.
Dean would save Mom, goddammit.
Michael might go back in time and punch Christian in the face.
Wonder Woman would like if the OMACs hadn't been invented. *looks at Bruce*
In her wild dreams I think Nynaeve would like to keep Malkier from falling. But that's . . . completely insane, so possibly having her parents still alive. Everything else -- if we're really wishing for impossible things to change, how about the Bore never happening. Yes. That one.
Galadan would . . . . god, Galadan would go back and unkill Amairgen. That . . . . did no one any good. Or, WAIT. Not work for Rakoth Maugrim at all ever. Yes. That one. And also not kill Amairgen. Winner!
Raven would probably not fly to the end of the universe and forget everybody, like he did that one time. Whoops!
And my new character, Ysalwen Surana, would most likely punch Jowan in the face before he can do any blood magic at Lake Calenhad, Chantry girlfriend or no.
Jessica would like the whole Skrull Invasion never to have happened. Or the super hero Civil War, even if she wasn't on Earth for it. She would ask for her best friend to not be so quick to jump on heroic pyres, but she knows even wishes have limits.
Ethan would like to not have been bitten. Of course, he wouldn't met Vanessa, Brona, or Dorian in that case.
Sam would like it if Bucky hadn't destroyed his wings. Part of him wishes for Riley back, but then HYDRA's takeover might have succeeded and he can't get behind that.
Selina would like whatever happened to her mother to not have happened. Sure would be nice to have some clarification on this bit.
Tybalt would like either Blind Michael to never have ridden or his people to not have been poisoned by Oleander.
The Emcee would...probably liked to have known who his parents were? Or perhaps remember them better? I don't know. He doesn't have many regrets or wishes for himself. For him the past is done and over with and he has little interest in revisiting or changing it.
Elrond: it's a very long list. Elves have perfect memory and he has been in a position to make decisions that affected far too many people far too often.
... he would have been better at pretending to be happy for Arwen at her wedding.
Gredya really wishes the Wyr had never gotten involved with Morgan. I've got medicine that makes everything not hurt, Morgan said. I'll teach you how to be better fighters, she said. Well to hell with you and your promises, lady.
Lesgle got to do some very very minor revising of history, thanks to Milliways, but didn't get to accomplish as much as he'd have liked. Otherwise, though, he's not really a "one big regret" kind of guy.
He would worry about the possible timeline changes which could result... but if he had to pick something, he'd probably go with his mother not dying in childbirth.
