Shout outs

I hope everyone's week is going well. My fact-checking is almost done and then my mind will be more my own, the Bar has been full of fascinating threads.

The Les Amis' OOMs, I like how they're poking at how Milliways works to try and make it better.

Bucky's OOM and EP, the way Aspen deals with the fallout of The Winter Soldier is hard and powerful. A lot of threads ranging from painful to unexpected.

Thor and a really big pizza.

Now tell me what you've loved reading and finished.

So, there is Tavi's bartending, in which Fairy Fixit is sitting in one of the threads talking her head off and dumping emotions on him.

And there is Autor, getting over love and recieving a bunch of unsolicited teasing and advice.

Thanks for the shoutout! I am grateful to everyone who tagged into that post, and for all the teasing and advice he received.

I also very much enjoyed Fairy Fixit's thread with Tavi. Sometimes she just needs to unload, indeed.

I loved that Autor post.

Thank you! Bossuet's thread is a ton of fun. What a lovely person.

ETA: I also absolutely love Karel's ooms. Those are hilarious, and the "trading" bits made me gigglesnort.

*coughs* I admit I kind of went "welp I could be all super-authentic and in-character and deliver some Victor Hugo's Thoughts About How Women Work BUT HOW ABOUT NOT." Autor deserves better, dammit! Not that Bossuet's actually a helpful role model in any way but.

and karel is an idiot

You wouldn't know it from our character interactions, but I love Gene Hunt and I'm cheering him on in his investigations! He and Jack are all just fabulous. (And of course, various monsters deserve credit for their excellent ransom note.)

Thank you kindly! Gene is rotten amounts of fun to play, but I still feel guilty at how awful he's being to all the French guys. Sorry! <3

Heh, well, working through his canon (just started S3 of Ashes to Ashes!) it's interesting to see how, like, canon-topical this stuff is. And also interesting to see how it plays out in RP and in the Milliways setting. :D

Oh yay, you found it! Lol, so now you know Gene's Very Strong Opinions on students. Good good. *grin*

Ahaha, enjoy S3. I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts, either as you go through or at the end. It's a hell of a ride.

Students, women, gay people, leftists, anyone not a suitably pasty shade of white, yeah... (I mean, also strong opinions on thieves, murderers, drug dealers, more-crooked-than-him cops, etc.)

Oh man. I've definitely got some issues with Ashes to Ashes, compared with Life on Mars, but like. UNTIL THE VERY END OF THE LAST EPISODE WHO THE HELL KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON ANYWAY.

(Pfffft, and if he could hear the current conversation with Teja Bossuet would be jumping up and down like a little cartoon and tearing out what's left of his hair, shouting WHO CARES ABOUT THE STUPID BOOKS.)

And to be fair, he might not like... anyone not like him, but he won't stand for them being undeservedly hurt or killed either.

...unless it's by him?

I mean uh

i don't know that "wouldn't stand for someone being undeservedly hurt" is uh

(I'm just talking about him in his canon setting here, of course--not what's going on in Milliways.)

...well, yes. But he's... him... and those people usually are involved in dodgy things.

Edit: By which I don't mean revolutionary things by and large, I mean drug dealing and other scummy practices.

Hee, yes! He is a man of opinions! But a copper first and foremost, and not even bent in the 80s, so...progress. :D? S1 definitely had issues - even the writers acknowledge that - but I couldn't have more love for S2 in general. And then S3, which I will say nothing about until you've seen it.

(Oh man, he was ready to RAGE when Teja said he'd asked Bossuet to join Security. Like, seriously, that would've made him apoplectic. There would have been long speeches on hypocrisy, and people would certainly have been punched. The books, he can't understand why they'd even be an issue, but there you go.)

Ha, I feel like Gene might have all the Amis dead to rights on the no outside business rule over all the political talk lately, if he...actually knew the first thing about them. :P
street_sparrow: (Default)

[personal profile] street_sparrow 2014-12-04 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I think 'outside business' is taken more to mean acting on outside grudges and not letting the place be neutral.

...like, say, distributing warning posters of your parents because you hate them and you're annoyed they've invaded your place. *cough* But Security turned a blind eye to that.

Hee! Depending on interpretation of the rule, yeah. :p

Although they can probably get him right back on the same rule for all his Ugh, FRANCE, look at them being all FRENCH, they can have some extra time for that stuff. Party time fun all around!

Thanks for the shout-outs! I love all my Les Mis canonmates, and everyone who tagged Thor (and I laugh forever at the number of them who tagged in to ask about pizza.)

I've been loving a lot of the Pumpkin King stuff! His random interactions are consistently hilarious. And the Santy Claws ransom note is great.

And all of Rikki Barnes's threads and OOMs of sorting through her Steve-related issues (and Steve-catalyzed other issues) are really, really excellently done. I've been loving them.

Ava Wilson and Beverly Katz are really, really fascinating together.

Aw, thanks! Ava and Beverly fascinate me, too, in a "how the hell is this going to end?" way.
