"Lieutenant, front and center." Jax barked at her in his major voice. If that didn't get her attention, he didn't know what would. He'd learned a long time ago not to shake her, even if she was having a nightmare.

His words on the other hand, or rather, the tone his voice brought on-that woke her up from her sleep. That they were called 'drills' for such a reason was often a long time joked-that the orders and voices were drilled into soldiers' heads, they joked that if someone gave the order at a military cemetary, the graves would open and the corpses would quickly fall into formation.
At his barking, Sonya quickly sat up from the sofa, barely even awake. "Sir!.." She frowned, realization settling that she wasn't actually anywhere near on base. "Briggs.....the hell?"
She frowned, turning towards him as it hit her. "Jax?...." Her voice cracked, eyes blinking as though to be sure it was him and not some lucid dream. "Jax..."
In less than a nanosecond, Sonya jumped off the sofa and immediately wrapped him up in a big hug. This was no dream-he really was here.

"You have no idea how happy I am to see you, Sonya." Jax said, the relief obvious in his voice, "How did you manage to get away and healed so fast, girl? When I saw you three seconds ago, your back looked like a meat puzzle." Maybe it was the magic in this place. It sure as hell wasn't Outworld magic.

"It's..." Sonya pulled away. "This isn't Outworld, that's why. We're in Milliways-a sort of 'realm in between realms, or..tavern in this case. Time doesn't work here as it does once you step back the door.." She frowned. "And before I say anything else, answer this for me-can you see the door behind you?"
That was the big question, if he could see his door, he was still free to come and go, but if his door had gone, he was as bound as she was. Much as part of her would've liked the idea of him being stuck here, she wouldn't wish it on him.

"Yeah, it's there. Why? What does it mean?" Jax asked, curious. If this wasn't Outworld, exactly where the blue hell was it, and how did it heal her so fast. Too much of this made no sense, at least to him.

She took a seat back on the sofa. "The reason you see me looking better, I've been Bound to bar since November according to this place calender-about six months."

Sonya ordered a cup of tea from bar, a mug appearing on the coffee table in front of her. Picking it up, she frowned when the taste revealed herbal instead of black.
"I have a job working in the stables, so that goes to room and board for me."

A burger and fries appeared on the table along with a napkin reading 'make sure to share the fries'.
"Extended leave of health?" That seemed to make the most sense as any. "There's never a reason given, just at some point you see your door, then it's gone and you don't know when she decides to let you go. The 'leave of health' is the only reason I can think of."
She wasn't exactly in the best of shape when arriving after all.

"Then I'm glad it did." He said, breathing a sigh of relief. After the shape she was in, Jax was grateful for the respite for her, "Hopefully when you come back, you'll be ready to kick ass, and I can return the burger at Charlies." Jax said, with a smile, as he munched a fry, motioning to Sonya to do the same. Far be it for Jackson Briggs not to follow orders, especially when they bring beer.

"When I return, it'll just be in the same condition as when I first got here." Which, was to say 'like crap'. "I think it's more mental than physical.."
She cut herself off, not sure she could even explain what happened to her commanding officer-not even to him. That he saw her in such a state was bad enough, she couldn't bring herself to tell him of the mental and emotional scars.

"So this is like an extended stay hotel with great food and a magical barmaid." He said, trying to lighten the mood. He knew the Lieutenant was tough. He had no doubt if they survived this tournament she would be fine. But still, he couldn't help but be grateful she was getting a break from that hell, even for a short while.

And because horses were easier to deal with than people. "Most people just take a Happy Hour shift, the time of day when Bar takes a nap, want any food or service it's best to ask the barkeep or one of the waitrats."
