Sunday Indulgences

It's Sunday again, Milliways, and you know what that means...

So what you rather be doing today, Milliways? Or are you doing exactly what you want to be doing today? What slowtimes have you completed? What plots have you begun or advanced? What threads have you read and want to share?

Tell us what's the what!

A Swamp Thing and a doomed psychologist have a nice chat

I have several canon irons in the fire and plans for tomorrow's May the Fourth. I am also very sore from doing lots of weeding in the garden and adding new lines to the drip irrigation system for it as well.

Ragnar and Athelstan simply can't stop talking about everything and anything -- there is always so much more to talk about, to quote canon.

And I love it!

The rest of my charries have mostly gone fishing because of the Viking invasion being so loud in my brain.-

Hey, we're still at the parts where it's almost completely child-friendly! Well, if you gloss over human sacrifice, children dying, and people tripping on 'shrooms, of course...

We're doing the traditional mythic version. Complete with pants. And dragons. And women wrapped in fishnets.
As the last of the Skuoldungr, he limped in Lejre, and she thinks that's awesome because we normally go there in summer.

What explanation does your traditional version give for the pantsy by-name?

That he wanted to win the hand of a girl who was guarded by a lindorm, a huge snakelike creature. It rested on a treasure that had grown with it from when she had received it as a present from her father when it was just a tiny worm.

He made a suit of furry skins and covered himself with tar. Once it had dried, he marched on the lindorm and killed it, as its venom and fire couldn't penetrate his armour.

That sounds like a huge mythified version of the story mentioned in our 'Vikings' canon of how Ragnar impressed Lagertha while he was wooing her; he killed some huge impressive beast.

A hound and a bear. I always feel a bit sorry for the hound.

Why kill a hound? They would have belonged to somebody! Or was that somebody an enemy?

I so need to re-watch season 1.

I think the implication was it was Lagertha's and it attacked him. But then it would only have been defending her.
