Spamming you slightly, sorry, just a quickie:
We have enough Scouts now that it makes sense to divide the kids up into Patrols, which are teams that you can use for games etc. Everything outside of games will still be done as a whole group.
I will attempt to divide the list into approximately equal skill/age sets.
If your pup wants to be a Patrol Leader (PL) please make yourself known, otherwise I will ask people who are frequently around.
Patrol leaders
How many will there be?
1-2 PLs per patrol, or 1 PL and 2 seconds, depending on how many people want to do it.
What does the PL do?
The patrol leader, when present, is expected to:
- Help the activity progress
- Make sure the other kids in your group are okay
- Be a good influence/voice of sanity e.g. saying something if there is a strong chance that throwing this object on the fire will cause a large explosion.
Does the PL have to attend every activity?
No, but ideally I will be picking people who are around fairly often.
Can my pup be a PL?
Your pup must be a Scout, but it doesn't matter how long they've been one. They also need to be reasonably responsible. They can be any age providing they are able to make sensible decisions.
Does my pup have to obey the PL?
No, but if your PL tells you not to set that thing on fire and you ignore them and it explodes, don't expect Bonnie to be impressed.
My pup didn't get picked as a PL, will there be opportunities later?
Yep, if a PL drops out, stands down, or we create more patrols.
Is there a badge?
You get a badge with your patrol picture on, and another one for patrol leader.
Patrol Members
Do I get to choose who I am with in a patrol?
If your pup has a bestie they want grouping with, ping me and I'll try, but no promises.
Can my pup still hang out with kids in the other patrol?
Of course!
Are the patrols set in stone?
No, I'll be trying to keep them balanced both for individual games and in general.
Do we get a badge too?
Yes, you get a badge with your patrol picture on.
If you have a suggestion for either of the patrol names, let me know that too. Traditionally in Guides/Scouts they are named after animals or plants. If nobody has a suggestion, it'll likely be Demon Bunny Patrol and Trilobite Patrol.
ETA: Patrol leader = team leader among the Scouts. Guest leader = one off activity leader who is not a Scout.

But I would love to have you guest lead, we're erecting the hut in mid June so that'd be the next opportunity :)
We won't be doing much in July because of the fair and to stay out the way of Maru's plot, but Bonnie and I will be recruiting various people for the fair nearer the time.

I'll be around for the hut-raising and Jay's very keen to help.

Guest leader = adult teaching a one off activity. Patrol leader = a longer term representative among the Scouts, like a team leader/form captain etc.
There are several badges he could teach with those skills, such as Woodwork, Hand Tools, Pioneering or Piracy.
If none of those suit, let me know, and I'll see if I can whip up something else...
