Sorry for the title, I couldn't resist. Today's great topic comes from misslucyjane :

Since we talked about books today (6/4) I got to thinking about why I don't read novels as much as I used to: it's because I'm too busy reading fanfiction.

So in that vein, what fanfiction about your character or canon do you recommend? What do you want to see portrayed in fic?

Alternately: If you are like me and totally stumped for Cubefall, post in with whom you want to EP with and see if anyone has some ideas.

I have so many fanfics book marked that I never seem to get to, but here are a few:
Dangerous Liaisons (A collection of shorts focused on Asajj Ventress, features my first introduction to Ventrobi!)
An Unlikely Companion (The inspiration for my giving Asajj her flying monkey)
The One Where Barriss Is a Model Padawan And It's Freaking Everyone Out (Great interactions between Obi-Wan, Luminara, and Quinlan)
The Padawan Trio (Wherein Luminara finally gets her Master and isn't so sure of the experience)

Someday I will branch out and read fic for my other canons.

And as to the alternate DE: I am thinking I'm just going to have Izana not chose a form, though I am still tempted of having her opt for a swarm of Blue Orchard Mason Bees.

Just to limit myself, here are the fics I reread over and over:

All the Angels and the Saints by Speranza. "In which Steve Rogers loses God and finds God and loses God, and also: Bucky." (MCU)

Rise and go forth by Frostfire. "Jack is well acquainted with failure." (Kings the series)

This, You Protect by Owlet. "The mission resets abruptly, from objective: kill to objective: protect." (MCU. OMG, I cannot rec this fic enough. I love it to pieces.)

A Long Winter by dropdeaddream, WhatAreFears. "In 1945, Steve Rogers jumps from a nosediving plane and swims through miles of Arctic Ocean to a frozen shore. In 1947, Steve Rogers marries Peggy Carter. In 1966, the New York Times finds the lost letters of Sergeant James Buchanan Barnes." (MCU)

Novela by Tikistich. "When Carlos introduces Cecil to his guilty pleasure (no, not that) Night Vale falls under the spell of a telenovela. Can a fly salesman save the day? And will Steve Carlsberg ever stop passing off his unacceptable scones to the PTA?" (WTNV)

Medvezhonok by Lanyon. "The Winter Soldier is on the run and no one is more surprised than he is by the fact that he is accompanied by a little boy who seems convinced that he is his father." (MCU)

The Great Affair by Skidmo. "Steve gets a glimpse of Orpheus' world. The great American road trip, Greek style." (Miliways: mythology/MCU. Giftfic for me :D.).

Somewhere a band is playing by Indigostohelit. "Cecil and Carlos deal with life, sex, pancakes, and possibly being anthropomorphic personifications. Also, Night Vale history as told by Night Vale, and a step-by-step guide to defying Death. Today's weather is by Ray Bradbury." (WTNV)

I either need to read more in my other fandoms or they're are so small they qualify for Yuletide, it would seem.

Oh gosh, there's so much fic-- I do the "fic instead of books" thing too-- but these are some of the ones that really settle around my characters/in canon.

Roberta Wickham's Fraternité is a fantastic Amis Assemble fic; very complete and amazingly solid with all the characters. I can never rec it enough.

Jane's Travelling For Health has excellent history nerding, Awkward Family Time, and an opinionated parrot. She's also written the Ghost Leech series, a very odd little AU in which Joly is dead (but that's okay).

Genarti's Le flâneur passe une bonne journée, a delightful little trip around Paris, which is also a pretty important character in-canon

and Sath's Madness and Civilization, which deals very well with the characters interactions with and through some of the science and prejudice of their times.

(Yes, most of these are by my canonmates. It's not my fault they're great writers!)
