AU week is upon us!

 So, AU week starts today and runs until next Friday. During that week, you can bring in some or all of your charries from some pre-existing or specially made Alternative Universe, you can have group AUs for one canon, a group of friends, or perhaps a couple? Some people will bring their pups from the old Hogwarts AU, there will be a Roller Derby AU, the Vikings will all be bikers, and Javert and Valjean are going to come from a college AU fic their mun wrote.

The AU version is, for the duration of that week, the version that was always there. You can agree to know each other in those versions and hit the ground running, or meet over -- the latter can be a lot of fun, too. 

You saw the posts; you get the idea.

Some technicalities:

• It helps to write up the basics of the AU somewhere, and link that write-up from both EPs and first tags to another mun so people can easily access what is different and what they know about your charrie. Here are examples from my charries: vampire!Hannibal by himself, and the Viking bikers collectively.
• Of course, not everybody needs to play, and you don't have to make up some AU version to play at all during that week. It would be helpful to indicate in your subject line (of either tag or EP) whether your character is AU or not.
• If your charrie is not AU and interacts with somebody they know who's gone AU, then they can once more most easily either know the AU version, or meet over. If you don't want to do either (that is, your charrie remembers the original version in some way, or is at least reminded of them) then please talk to the AU mun first to see what they are comfortable with. Communication is the key!
• It's probably easier for the non-AU pup that remembers the regular versions to dismiss the differences as 'usual Milliways weirdness' rather then start a frantic investigation to get their friends back. It's not a mystery to be solved, or a problem to take to Security. It just happens.
• As Bing said, having your charrie walk up to an AU pup and go 'You're all wrong because you should be XYZ' without consent is, in the context, rather like canon puncturing, so that's not a polite thing to do for muns of non-AU characters. In case of any doubt, talk first, tag afterwards!
• You might add an OOC note to your EP or tag about what your preferences are -- 'No AU pups please' is as valid a request as 'AU pups only' and everything in between. We normally ask to respect re-boots, new PBs, to not go on about PB similarity ('This Alan Tudyk is not like the other Alan Tudyk') or provide thoughts for telepaths -- this is on the same level.

Bad me. I sharding well don't know what to do for Sariel for AU week. Daemonverse Trek AU? I can't think of the right name for her daemon, though I know he's a rossignol (a Lucian house wren). That puts a wrench in the other daemon AU I was considering, which was frankly my first choice for a while, building on the ficlet I wrote years ago where she was a Bolvangar child.

I've toyed with the idea of a Mistborn AU with Sariel as a tineye or less possibly a coinshot or lurcher, but I'm not sure. I don't have a clear enough handle on Hogwarts student!Sariel to pull it off. Half the ideas I have for other scenarios don't work without other characters who aren't around.

I'm not bringing the Taos!version of her into the bar. That is, the version of her who went to the academy like River Tam, was freed in some iteration of the academyplot and went to Keystone Rose. That AU stays in sandboxes only.

There's always that X-Men AU...?
