Stand-in DE
Hullo! Grabbing today's DE:
What's something your character is weirdly judgmental about? I don't mean great big moral stances like "my pup is strongly against domestic violence, bigotry, slavery, and the wealthy controlling the government." I mean, what's the stuff that your character gets just maybe a little too worked up about? Bad handwriting? Historical accuracy in movies? Some subject that people talk about when they don't know anything about it? And do they think they get more grumpy about it than they should, or do they want to argue that it is that important that there shouldn't be macaws in a television scene about an ancient Roman market, gosh darn it!*
* I'm looking at you, Rome.

Javert - ahahaha. Everything? No, untidy clothes is his Thing. His own more than anyone else's. He doesn't expect anyone else to care, the animals.
Valjean - women and men working together. OH, THE HUMANITY.
No time for the rest just now, might be back later. Stupid work and essays and shit, it's Friday night sald;kjfl. *grumps*

He's also... not judgmental, exactly, but very quick to go "okay you do you, have fun, I'm peacing out" about a lot of stuff that seems frivolous to him.
Cosette really likes gardens, okay. Even if you come from a time when you can get fruit out of season any day of the week you ought to care about that fact! No but it's important that these flowers don't bloom together, it's a totally valid artistic choice to put silk versions of them together on a bonnet but it's interesting! Proper care of apple trees is important! You don't have to care about it but you ought to recognize that it's a thing worth caring about, darn it.
Kazul is judgy about many many things. Let's go with bad desserts, and general dinner party planning. She doesn't care about formal etiquette -- she knows it, she'll throw it out the window if she wants to, so there -- but she cares that you put thought into it to make it a good party. And the food better be good, within whatever your means are.
Thor is judgy about courtesy. Not necessarily etiquette, though they're related of course, but courteous behavior to everyone around you. If you're discourteous, it better be either deliberate and well justified, or else a genuine culture-gap misunderstanding, or else he's judging you hard.

AND I SO FEEL YOU ENJOLRAS oh goddamn better not start with me on that ~robespierre killed everyone who disagreed with him~ bullshit.
no subject
Well, Combeferre has probably gotten there first with a scathing one-liner, really, but if not Enjolras is going to politely intensely Learn You A Thing with citations provided.

Lesgle, eh, I mean he'll weigh up the cut of your coat and your hat and the hang of your accessories, and feel superior if it's all too bourgeois; but there aren't a lot of little things that he gets worked up about.
Gredya is judgmental about things like cooking, spending money, farming, drinking alcohol, using fine china to eat from, and living indoors.
Djehuty can tell if you're using fake animal remains in the mummified offerings you prepare, you know. That's cheating the customer and cheating the gods. And none of those tricks with cut-rate watered-down incense.
The Chief acknowledges that some people don't have a passion for geography, and she hopes they'll learn better than to say things like "maps are boring" or "who cares what the capital of Madagascar is."
she's judging you so hard.Feuilly is judging you on how you treat tradespeople, craftspeople, the person behind the sales counter, your waiter, etc.
Helen Ramirez is really low on pet peeves. Touchy about her own pride, but if you're not judging her she's probably not judging you. (Okay, I'm lying, she laughs to herself at mispronunciations of Mexican place names, and she doesn't think much of fearful people.)
Hal has sounded the very base string of humility, man, he'll banter with friends but really it's all cool, he's chill about everything...unless and until he finds it useful not to be.

Also now Nori really wants to find Hal's pet peeves. Because she's that kind of person.

that doesn't go over too well

With an raincoat on, from what she's heard.

Jemma: Gets twitchy when things aren't written correctly, like... it's not .1mls, it's 0.1mls, guys, the 0 is important, WRITE THE 0, do it. And for the love of all things holy WRITE YOUR UNITS.
Katya gets annoyed if she finds a sword not stored properly. Just. She loves swords. And you're abusing yours, you may find it permanently missing from here on out. Also flavored vodka, wtf, no, NO. And Wonderbread. That's just unholy stuff. No.
no subject
Yeah, but, that's not minor. THERE'S A REASON WE DO THINGS THIS WAY.
(The reason is so we don't screw stuff up later THAT IS THE REASON)

She's also one of those people who bakes with a scale. Cups and teaspoons and such are SO INACCURATE.

Hank is like Jemma, make your science with clear and accurate notes people.
Oddly, that's all I'm getting.

Oh and she's weirdly picky about the proper writing implement. Whole mornings have been disrupted because she couldn't find her favourite pen. ~facepalm~

Chuck is judgmental about everything he knows anything about >.>. I guess the major issue is he gets frustrated at anything stated inaccurately about the Jaeger program even if it's really tiny and not important and the inaccurate explanation is easier. *HE* can state things inaccurately, you see -- because he knows what he's talking about. Everyone else is just a poser if they do it. >.> (AKA: HE'S RIGHT, BRO. NO OVERREACTING HERE. IF YOU THINK HE'S OVERREACTING HE'LL FIGHT YOU)
John Connor cares a lot about the Oz books and chess history. He realizes he's overreacting, and tries not to, but it burns.
Quatre has feelings on clothing (as relevant to occasion). You can wear whatever you want, but please do not try to actually have an argument with him about appropriate dress per occasion. He knows exactly what he is doing thank you. (He doesn't feel it very polite to argue, but he feels entirely justified)
... that's all I got rn.

Viola and Liz will both get their feathers ruffled by excessive shows of privilege and pride, but neither are in positions (in their opinion) where they can generally do anything about it.

Dixie: People who don't polish their rings before giving them away. It's just rude.
Eponine: People who're wasteful of food for obvious reasons.
Pinkie: Broken. PROMISES.
Juliet: People who stick their fingers in the peanut butter.
