DE: Why ya gotta leave man?
A great one from

We've talked about pups we've never apped recently. What about pups you've dropped? Why did you drop them, and do you think you'd try to play them again under other circumstances (more time, another game, sandbox, etc.)?

Other times, like
And, occasionally, as much as I love the character and love playing them, they're just not a good fit for the bar. I picked up Roger from RENT years and years ago, but he ended up being so far inside his own head -- rightfully so, considering canon, but still -- that I discovered I couldn't do much with him.
For all of them except the fell-out-of-love-with-canon pups, I'd happily sandbox them sometime. More time or another game are never going to happen, so I'll take what I can get!

The two best examples of this are Blodwen Rowlands (
(I have a few more "current" characters that are either at or reaching this point, which means I should really do something about that very soon. Hm.)
But just because I stopped playing them here doesn't mean that I enjoy writing them any less. I'm always glad to sandbox. :)

Two that come to mind:
Ben Grimm. I loved Ben and still do, but Fear Itself really did a number on him and me. They took a character whose core is being turned into a monster yet not being a monster at heart. Then they made him into a monster in truth, which was pretty well done, but the fall out never happened. It was just shrugged off with an apology to the Avengers, when I felt Ben would've done so much more; rebuilding the neighborhoods destroyed, apologizing to the people living in those neighborhoods, etc. I could've fixed that but I was just done with cross overs and so let him go.
Valeria von Doom: Loved her, had her voice done but I had no idea what to do with her. I may base a character off her someday for personal writing as I love the idea of her, but she just didn't seem to have stories I wanted to write at the time.

I still adore him and he would be fun to play in a random way but he doesn't work as a full time character.

I've also discovered I can't really do villainous pups for the long term.

There have also been a few who just didn't seem to fit in - I'm afraid Tess is becoming one of them. I do have others I'm considering apping, so if she gets dropped I'll probably still be here.

I honestly forget why I dropped Turtle (

Of those, the one I would be most likely to pick back up again given reason is probably Kratos Aurion of Tales of Symphonia. I still all of them much, though I couldn't play Amy Pond again, and Dave Davenport's hard. Carrot and Giles I definitely could if I had cause, but Kratos is the one I really, really miss sometimes.
