DE: What's in a name?

Let's talk pseudonyms, nicknames, nom-de-guerres or aliases: do your characters have any, and if so, where do they come from and what do they mean? Do other people mangle their names, or persistently call them things they don't like?

Conversely, do your characters nickname other people, either to their faces, behind their backs, or in their own heads?

In canon, Rae's nickname "Sunshine" is so much Rae's name that it can be used in name-based magic against her. (If you know how, have the power to, and aren't a vampire from her world, because apparently Master Vampires-In-The-Normal-Way can't even say daylight words without being hurt by them.) Occasionally, when feeling mushy or protective, her little brothers call her Sissy. It's very rare, however.

Yrael actually made a game of collecting names from people who thought he was just a white cat, for a while there. He gathered quite a few, but I can hardly remember them all now. The name "Mogget" still lingers in use occasionally.
