DE: Light the corners of my mind

Let's look at memories today. What is one of your pups best, to date? Worse? Or is there one that just makes them wonder why they remember it?

Best: He's got lots of amazing memories, but exchanging his first "I love you"s with Dani on a Chilean beach at sunset has gotta be up there for both overall goodness and vividity.

Worst: Still probably watching half his system explode. :-(

Curtis has a...complicated relationship with memory. His biggest defense mechanism on the train was to forget his whole pre-freeze life; there are probably lots of good moments hidden back there, but fucked if he knows what. And while that defense mechanism made him capable of surviving the Tail, it's backfired since coming to Milliways: he instinctively discards stuff that most people would make an effort to remember, so he loses time and gets gaps in his memory unless he's really trying to focus on something.

So, with that in mind: his best memories mostly involve Dejah nowadays. His worst, easily, is what he did during those first months on the train.

Worst: The morning she woke up and discovered John Carter was gone. It features in all her nightmares. Someone she loves just -- disappearing from her life. No note. No explanation. Just poof. Gone.

Best: The day she got John back. Followed closely by the day she realized she was on the right track with the Ninth Ray but had been sabotaged. That was a good day & a bad day.
