Having used some myself recently, I'm gonna say--let's talk about support networks. What's your character got in that department? Who can they turn to for help, whether it's emotional or more concrete? And do they use that network?
(...i'm looking at you, jean valjean, mr. "oh i'll just quietly erase myself from my daughter's life, i'm sure it's better that way")

(I'll be resuming RP with her within the week. I've had a lot of RL stuff going on but I think I can manage now.)
Shephard tends to fall back on his family and/or his girlfriend for what emotional stuff he's willing to admit to needing help with. This is not a lot, because he is not prone to admitting things; it would look bad. As for more concrete things, there's the town of Rowlesburg in general; they tend to help each other out in time of need.
Pretty sure Stacker's entire emotional support network consists of Hercules Hansen and his financial support network appears to be Hannibal Chau, no thanks to those worthless snivelling pro-Wall weasels on the Council.
Support networks run away from Wee Mad Arthur.

and that Odin's a manipulative jerk, but all the same he can turn to them for emotional support, and definitely for concrete support. And he does! Thor is not a guy who's shy about turning to people for help if he needs it.Enjolras, of course, has the other Amis. They all can and do turn to each other whenever it's needed -- that's canonical, that they're all people who would give a friend any help they could, even to a friendly acquaintance. He's done that in Milliways plenty, whether for emotional support or just for help with a problem or something he's thinking through.
Cosette has, uh... Jean Valjean. WHOOPS. >.< Also her husband Marius! Who has his own dumb ideas of protectiveness, so... basically, there's a reason I brought her into Milliways to make more friends and acquire more of a social network. And now her mother!
The extent to which she leans on that network is a little complicated. She absolutely will for something involving concrete support, or for the emotional support of being with loved ones. But to actually talk about something emotionally wrong -- it's not that she won't, but it takes a fair amount to get her to, because Cosette tends to think of herself as the person who cheers everybody else up by being bright and cheerful and loving and domestic. So she'll talk about a problem, but then she'll skip right away from it as soon as she sees any sign that the other person is feeling stressed or won't help.
Kazul has several dragon friends, and also Cimorene (and Mendanbar) and Morwen. And no problem griping or asking for assistance!

Sabine: Not at present. She is at the Imperial Academy and any sort of weakness is perceived as a flaw to be removed.
Quin: Yes, his family. Khaleen is a great support for him and he does reach out when needed; which might not be as often as Khaleen thinks he needs.
Izana: I've written four friends for them that are also intersexed/third gender (canon gives us no others though it can be inferred that third gendered folk are common, having their own baths and such) and they are good friends; listening when needed and pushing Izana when needed. Izana is are pretty good friends with the Honoka sisters. I don't think Izana uses them for support though and the sisters are still inexperienced enough (they are only about 5-6 years old despite mature bodies) that they don't see when Izana needs help.
Luidaeg does not. I think she could have one in Quentin and Toby, but Luidaeg doesn't want to involve them in her problems, preferring to protect them. They do ease her loneliness though, so that's something. And yes, she does reach out to them to ease the loneliness.
Sam is the support network, though he has to be aware enough to know he needs his own support. I imagine he still keeps contact with several of his old friends and family, likely even his old PTSD councilor.

No, no, I can't keep that face up.

That being said, he did trust her when no one else did. That accounts for a lot really.

And that's only at home. Here in Milliways he's got Mike, Bar, Splinter, and Sallie. (Also Stampy.)
Commander Bumi has his brother, sister, mother, and the entire might of the United Forces Second Naval division.
Milliways side he's got Shep.
Raphael has his brothers and father back home, and then in Olau he's got Abigail, her brothers, the Queen, and the Lioness and her brood.
In Milliways he has Security...not to mention the ear of both Barmen.
I think Raph's doing okay for himself.
The Loompas have each other, as well as the LandLord...who apparently loves them.
Michaelangelo has pretty much all of Raph's contacts, as well as Bar. Don't let the warm exterior fool you, she's a force to be reckoned with.
Splinter shares the networks of his sons.

Mary has Anna at home, and Sybil, though she doesn't share as much with her little sister. The rest of her family (um, minus Edith?) are good for supporting her physical needs, but sometimes lacking in emotional support. In Milliways, Thayet has been a major source of emotional support.
Stiles has his Dad, Scott, and Melissa at home. In Milliways he's got Grace, who will probably beat you up if you mess with him, and X-23, who wants to teach him to defend himself.
Carol has Jessica, Wendy, Tracy, and tons of Avengers on her side at home. In Milliways, she's got Alanna.
The Tracksuit Draculas are their own support network.

In 01, he's, more than anyone else, the one who is taking it upon himself to make sure that everyone rests and is healthy, and by the time Tri rolls around, he's the one taking the most active role in being Taichi's support in his totally-well-founded emotional problems, even if that support comes in incredibly abrasive, confrontational form, because he's still Yamato and he's not great at emotions.
(Which makes an interesting contrast to Taichi and Sora, both of whom are focused in one way or another on looking after everyone - Yamato's got laser focus on looking after his own friends, and other people are a secondary priority.)
Hawke has no emotional support right now. He just doesn't - Leandra, Bethany, and even Carver (sometimes) are great people who would likely give Hawke all the emotional support he needs, but Hawke is about as emotionally open as - as something that's really emotionally closed off.
He will get a support network at some point, because his party members in Kirkwall are close enough for him to trust them, while also not being his responsibility - and they'll also provide concrete support in the form of stabbing things (and so on), so that's good too.
Sherral doesn't really have any kind of emotional support network back home, because the Archadian army is very keen on officers (and especially commanding officers) being immovable, totally reliable people who their subordinates can all depend upon, and showing any kind of emotional weakness is frowned upon. That will only get worse, because Judges have the exact same problem, only magnified to a factor of 'you are the guardians of law and order for all of Ivalice'.
There are some people in bar, but Sherral tries to steer clear of being too overtly emotional with them, either.
As far as concrete support, though, he's swimming in it. He has a garrison of good soldiers who he trusts implicitly, after all.
Yugo has Phoenix! Because Phoenix, being just another side of Yugo, cannot be lied to about his emotional state. Whether that counts as support when Phoenix honestly could not give two hoots about Yugo's emotional wellbeing is up in the air.

I mean, I have no idea why anyone would, but I'm sure it's possible.

That is way less of a concern in Milliways. Carol, Brienne, Charles, Tavi, and Quentin all know the truth and understand why she lies. That has been excellent for her piece of mind. She is also ridiculously fond of Ysalwen, so she might be getting the truth at some point.
Thayet has Buri and the Queen's Riders at home, as well as Jon of course, and Mary in Milliways. Also Ysalwen seems sensible and fun, though she hasn't known her as long. Raph and X are also up there on the list; they have been by her side through stuff she can't really talk about in bar because of Squire Alan, and she trusts them a great deal. Also Tavi. Of course, Tavi.
Grace... heh. Grace has Ham, though Earl wishes she had him a little less? Ham and her team in Major Crimes. They're her real family. And there's Earl. There's always Earl.
In bar, Mike gets the lucky position of her go-to person. It's his brownies. And his hot bod. XD
Karou has Brimstone, Issa, and her other monsters on one side of her double life, Zuzana on the other. It is hard to keep up the divide, and leaves her feeling lonely more often than not; especially because Brimstone keeps her at arm's length in a lot of ways. And he has really long arms.
In bar, I'd say Gavroche fits the bill most.
Lizzie has Will and Will Jr. She tolerates other people, and is not above using them if need be. The closest she's come to actual friendships in bar was with Plourr and Tonks. It's probable that James has wormed his way into friend status as well. Then there's Mary. She can mostly have a civilized conversation with Mary?
Sparks Nevada has his trusty robot steed, Mercury, and his robot fists. That's all he needs to do his duty as Marshal on Mars, riding the galactic trail like the hero he is!
Well, Red's pretty okay. And Felton's good at loudly letting on when there's trouble.
He especially does not need Croach. Nope.
(Sorry about his emotional unavailability.)
Doctor Evil has Mini-Me, his exquisite clone.
Toby is another one surprised by the people she has accumulated in her life. Here she was, a hard-boiled P.I. who was REALLY BAD at her job and needed NO ONE after being turned into a fish for years, thank you very much, and suddenly she had a Scooby gang. That'd be May (and Jazz, probably, why not), Tybalt, Quentin, and Raj. Danny. Walther. Stacey and Karen. And whether she likes it or not, the Luidaeg. Also Sylvester, her liege, but that's more formal.
Eventually I'll EP her and she can actually meet Milliways folks. Yay! *facepalm*

Will has the other Merry Men and a lot of Milliways' friends with which he shares various levels of support with from drinking when things get bad to going to kill things for. Sadly there aren't as many of them as there used to be due to OOC factors but he enjoys them all.
Charles is someone who's used to being the support network and he's finding it hard to adjust to needing one while still supporting others. Raven and then later Erik were there for him in ways few others had been and now they're gone. Moira, Hank, Sean and Alex have helped but there isn't that length of knowledge and history he had with Raven. In Milliways, there's X who is amazing, Jay, Alanna, Emcee, who understands some layers of himself that others don't, for a time there was Iris. There are others but these are the ones that really stand out to me and he's learning what does he need to be able to become who the other mutants need.
Quentin has Raj, Toby, May, Jazz, the Luidaeg, April, Tybalt, the Duke, his parents and others in Shadowed Hills. In Milliways, its a mix because of how much he's shared but I'd say that he would consider going to Alanna, Ysalwen, Jay and others are a mix. For all of them it depends on the kind of support he needs, within certain frameworks he's good at asking for support but in others not so much. The Fae world doesn't have the best models for emotional health.
Moist doesn't really have any networks, if he went back to Uberwald, he might find some but he prefers to rely on himself and while he might ask for help, he's strategic about it. Oddly Claudia Donovan is someone I think he'd grumble to, then there are the ones who are fun for sex and getting the not going into detail stuff like Emcee and Jay, a lot of mine are friends with Jay.
Sameth has great support networks for physical and research help at home, guards, libraries and he's a prince who's better liked than he realizes. Emotional is tricky, his family is slowly kind of working on that, but he and Ellie are talking more, hopefully Nick will soon be living in the Old Kingdom, he and his father kind of get each other and Lirael's okay. In Milliways, he has far more people who understand him and his struggles though he's still not the best at talking to them, Kait, Tavi, Diana, Ysalwen. One of the ways he deals is making things and people he can talk shop with are great: Joly, Ellen and Chuck.
Jane has her sister, brothers and father along with some friends in town, they're not introduced in the movie but clearly there, also Tom for a time. In Milliways, she doesn't share as much, its not her nature and she also doesn't like to have her hurt openly out there for the world to see. I love how she makes some of the more unexpected friendships, Dean Winchester is someone she would trust and I think Lady Mary as well. I need to play her more as I'm blanking a bit.
William at home has his brother, but I think the way they support each other isn't evenly balanced. William sees himself as very much an older brother and so doesn't share as many of his worries with brother or mother. In Milliways, he has more people but what he tells and why differs a lot, Katya, Autor, Thalia when she was around, Stiles, Bahorel, Alan, starting to be Edgar. He's not a talker but people who will spend time with the horses and talking books and understand that his time isn't theirs will get him to open up more.
Ivan has a lot of support networks, the Imperial Service, his extended family but the one's he trusts the most are Tej, Miles, Gregor, his mother, Simon, Cordelia and then others within that circle to varying levels. In Milliways he hasn't opened up that much, part of it is when I brought him in, he hasn't had as much cause to share the stuff that truly gets to him. Still for his canon, he's fairly open about his life.
Demeter has Kore and then of her family, she's closest to Dionysus, Apollo, Pan, Hecate then the rest depends on what's going on. In Milliways, she doesn't share much of her own pain but she did with Malcolm. Mainly she's the one who takes care of other people.
Tumnus has Lucy and friends in the court and forest but I think he's fairly quiet and doesn't share much of himself. In Milliways, the only person he really connected and shared more with was Zazu.

She doesn't realize just yet how much she's come to rely on Curtis. On having him close and being able to just relax and be a person when she's around him. I don't think she's quite realized yet how many days she's spent in the bar without going home. That might catch up with her at some point.
Tars has his clan. His daughter and he are closer now that they can discuss that sort of thing, at least in private. As far as emotional support? He's a Thark. Such things are a luxury.
Earl, again, *is* the support network.
Vert? Hmm. Good question.

Henry, pre-season 1, does not have a support network yet and frankly really needs one.
Evelyn has some friends around her but she doesn't have really supportive people. She will.
Lois mostly has Chloe and Clark for support, now that Jonathan's gone and Martha is mostly in Washington. Her dad raised her not to really go to people, which is slightly handy when Chloe gets jealous of her sometimes in S7 and Clark is only variably available. That said, when he is, he is absolutely her favorite shoulder to cry on and gives the best hugs. She tries to return the favor.
Tavi has Kitai, his family and friends--and in Milliways Alanna and Thayet in particular are added to this list. Right now he also as Alera, albeit temporarily. That said, sometimes it doesn't help much, as sometimes it's just him and some terrible decision he has to make.
R2-D2... uh... has C-3P0?
Anakin thinks he has a support network and probably thinks he doesn't really need them, except Padme, because of course he needs Padme. If asked, he'd shrug and say Obi-Wan, Rex--and once she's around, he'd protest that he's Ahsoka's support system, but she is fairly vital to him. He'd say the Jedi Order but he doesn't actively mean it, considering he hides his marriage from them. Oh, and Chancellor Palpatine. Anakin feels highly privileged and honored to count the man among his friends.

In Milliways, the picture is much rosier. She's made friends with other female warriors, in particular Alanna of Trebond and Sonya Blade, which is fantastic for her and unlike anything she's had in canon. She's also made friends with Bahorel, who's pretty good at wrangling shy people.
Fantine had no one for most of her life. Cosette's father supported her financially for a while, until he didn't. Then she had no one again until meeting Marguerite, an old woman in Montreuil-sur-Mer, who taught her some tricks of living while poor. But then she fell into the most dangerous and low-status form of sex work, and had no one to support her until Jean Valjean, Sister Simplice, and Sister Perpetue helped her out. Except by then it was too late to save her life, especially thanks to the intervention of Bamatabois (the guy who threw snow down her neck when she already had tuberculosis) and Javert. So not a happy picture.
In Milliways, it's much better because she has her adult daughter Cosette. (Well. "Adult" as in about seventeen and married, which kinda counts for her time period). Valjean is also here and would help her out. She's also met other members of the dead French brigade who'd likely help her out, particularly Bahorel.
Combeferre and Jehan Prouvaire had their friends in real life and in Milliways for both emotional and more concrete support, so they're good, all things considered.

I have a feeling that's something Valjean will never be able to say again. And thank God for that. :D
Gene has his squad.
Javert wouldn't use a support network if he had one.
Banner and Wayne fly solo: Banner tries with the Avengers, but we all saw how that worked out in Ultron.
Courfeyrac has the Amis, of course!
Pearly has minions, but kills them if he feels like it, so it's safe to say no he doesn't have one.
Annnd nor does Moriarty. Wow, I really go for the loners. :\
But then there's Aubrey, who has his crew (even if he does feel lonely as a captain, due to being at the top etc). But he also has Stephen of course - he'd be proper lost without Stephen. :D
