DE: One world over
You remember AU week? We are definitely going to do that again.
The other night, an idea came up between Saph and me in chat that it might be fun to suggest a theme of 'Existing in a different canon' (unless somebody wants to pick up the version from last year, of course).
I'd already done it with Hannibal as a ricean vampire; Saph and I were thinking about a Vikings / Star Wars AU with Athelstan as a young Jedi and Ragnar as a Sith lord, or about a Hannibal / Vikings AU with Hannibal as the Viking leader and Will Graham as the abducted monk -- you get the gist.
In pre-preparation for this even coming up in, uh, about five months time, why not throw around some such ideas -- what other canons could your characters be part of for AU week? What Other!canon!AUs could you imagine?
Do discuss with canon mates and RP colleagues.

Ahsoka could be fun in the Marvel or DC universes, though I'm not sure what name she'd go by. I know it's not quite what you are aiming for here, but Steam Wars or Shakespeare's Star Wars could be fun if I had a brain for it.
Sabine and the Rebels crew could be a lot of fun in an Ocean's 11 or Mission Impossible world.
Not sure about the Toby-verse fae.
Selina is firmly in the Potter-verse in my head.
Not sure about Sam Wilson, Hank McCoy, or Izana. I'm open to suggestions.
I am giggling at the new head voice (Eliot Waugh from The Magicians) as a Jedi. He's homeless for now though.

Gyda as a young jedi in training!
Sonya as a vampire. I'm thinking either one of Anne Rice's, or go full on AU and go 'Twilight sparklepire'-just for how fun it'd be.
Though for the record, there won't be any 'sparkling' so much as 'having a sheen (like Mica)
Matilda...should I go predictable and have her be from 'Once upon a time'?

Quentin as a Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell Fae would be fascinating since in someways, he's actually not that different.
Ivan in a Regency setting or a Les Mis type setting as a lot of his canon has themes that reflect older styles of governing just with tech that creates new problems.
William's one that I find a little trickier for AUs, but a Firefly Universe or Star Wars would fit well for him.
Hm, I'm not as sure for the others though thanks to Tumblr, I now have this idea of Obi-Wan Kenobi and a noir setting.

Also, more crossover than AU, but I still want to write a fusion fic where Ned and Chuck from Pushing Daisies are Hannibal-and-Will-thematically-paralleled-serial killers of the week. Um.
Star Wars is such the obvious AU potential with A:TLA/LoK, just given how much A:TLA especially really drew from it. And come on, like Asami wouldn't be the best pilot in the resistance! She can fly anything! (On that note, as much as I am korrasami forever, if anyone could just play Poe Dameron long enough for me to have Asami flirt with him, I would really appreciate it.)
... really tbh any Star Wars AU like this would probably more accurately translate to Avatar: IN SPAAACE. Which given that I want any next sequel to be like, a cyberpunk Avatar, I wouldn't be opposed to that!!!! (Also, cyberpunk AU!)

...really, anything historical canon in the Jonathan Strange universe is one I'd find cool. Hotspur definitely allies himself with the Raven King against King Henry.
Oooh, I'd love to stick Liz in Agent Carter-era Marvel 'verse.

Also, I a few months ago I read a short ficlet that was a Jonathan Strange/Master and Commander crossover, which was lovely, but I can't seem to find it now. So many Napoleonic Wars fandoms to choose from.

Damnit, now I'm missing Admiral Jane Roland.

- orphaned (or semi-orphaned) farm boy
- hidden heir
- orphan with green eyes
- EDIT: I suppose one could also go with 'any orphan with plot-relevant parentage'
If the canon has it, just toss Tavi in that slot and see what happens.
Belgariad, Star Wars (prequel or original), Harry Potter are the first three things to come to my mind.

Also, Star Wars or Hogwarts tend to fit anybody. We used to have a semi-regular Hogwarts AU in Mixed Musees before we moved here from LJ.

If anyone needs a HP "villain" for any interactions, Tom will huff a weary sigh and chalk it down to the never ending road of atonement. Just holler!

Sinric as a force sensitive wanderer, maybe an Order 66 survived hiding his identity.
Jay as a strict, temple trained Jedi turned grey Jedi (with the occasional stray into the very dark grey) after nearly dying at the hands of a Sith Lord. Making his way as a smuggler and pilot.
Or universe swapped -
Sinric as a metahuman with very sensual abilities, a little lost now that the alien pleasure dome he belonged to has been destroyed and trying to live in a world of superheroes and ordinary humans.
Jay as a second son of a Viking earl who took off to become a Varangian.
