Weekend Entertainment: I will crush you

Since I've had fun with the past two weekend entertainments, I'm going to keep the pace going.

How competitive is your pup? Are pretty casual with things or must they be the best of the best? When they lose, are they cool about it or visibly upset?

Also, a bit of house keeping, I will be out of town all next week. As such, Monday and Friday's DE are up for grabs. First come first serve. I also will need to beg slowtimes for my threads. I will try to get some momentum going on them this weekend but I don't know how the hotel in the mountains will be as far as wifi and connectivity.

Seimei used to be competitive back when he was a young onmyoji just starting his career, because he felt he had to prove himself to the world. Even back then, he made a point of being a graceful loser.

These days he's not competitive at all, and hasn't been for a long time. If he loses a contest to someone, then obviously they have something to teach him. (That or he lost on purpose for some reason.)

Emcee does have a bit of a competitive streak if he's encouraged (or provoked), but he doesn't go out of his way to prove himself. And while he likes to win and is not against doing a victory dance, he makes sure the loser receives positive attention. In fact he's the kind of person who would help people cheat, or would purposely do badly so that someone else who was failing would look better. He's not a sore loser, but if you're a sore winner whose sole purpose is to rub it in, he's not going to think very highly of you.

Tess is very competitive and to her practically everything is a game. She's generally satisfied knowing she won and knowing the other person knows they lost to her and doesn't need fanfare to celebrate.

Kylo.... is probably competitive, but there really hasn't been anything in canon to really showcase it. Yes he wishes he won the battle with Rey, but that was less competition and more survival.

Aah, have fun in the mountains!

Bahorel plays to win, and he'll definitely cheat and play dirty if that's the way the game is running, and be in a fine mood the whole time he's doing it. He doesn't actually mind losing at all;he'll even throw the odd game if he's playing against someone who really needs the win. But he does like the drama and rush of competition; he'd rather lose a close game than win in a curbstomp.

Joly profoundly doesn't care about winning, but he does love to play, so he'll play aggressively enough to stay in a game as long as he can. He'll also totally get distracted by a conversation and forget it's his turn, or what his strategy was going to be, so it's a good thing he really doesn't mind losing.

Gene: do not make a bet with him. Just, do not. Or dare him. He's like a teenager; he'll put everything and anything on hold to win. But if he loses, he pays up.

Valjean, Javert, Bruce Banner - not at all. None of them have that kind of spirit. They compete with themselves in various ways, but not other people.

Bruce Wayne - not really, not for anything trivial at least. But if you're, say, the Joker and play dice with his city, he'll step up.

Courfeyrac - sure! Games with his mates, a spot of gambling here and there, he's always up for a good time. He likes to win but he's a gallant loser, and he always pays his debts.

Pearly - if he feels like it on any particular day.

Moriarty - on his own terms. It's hard to be competitive when you don't think anyone's your equal. He gambles his own life against Sherlock of course, and that was basically one big bet. He plays fair, because otherwise how do you know for sure you're the best? So yeah he's competitive, but only for really high stakes.

Aubrey - yes! And he loses every bet he makes, unless he happens to be in charge of a ship at the time.

Sunshine is pretty casual with things in friendly competitions, but can't pretend she doesn't like winning. She's pretty cool with losing, though. She might play it up like it's a big deal for fun, but it's not.

Zelgadiss is pretty competitive when it matters, hates losing and will push himself beyond reason to achieve his ends. He wouldn't care enough to be upset if it's just winning for winning's sake. Among friends, in friendly competitions, he's still highly competitive, but will keep his cool when he loses. (He knows if he blew up at his friends they're fully capable of blowing up right back at him - and no one really wants to have to explain that much property damage.)

Yrael is highly competitive, when a competition presents itself. He is smuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug when he wins and souuuuuuuuuuuuuur when he loses, with little in between. Unlike Zelgadiss, who is more likely to blame himself for losing, Yrael is more likely to hold a grudge against whoever won against him.

X is competitive against herself, but proving herself against other people isn't -- she doesn't care?

Ysalwen is not competitive. She's just in to learn new things. She'll get frustrated if you beat her so fast she can't learn anything from it, though.

Raven is competitive as hell. So is Dean, and so is Nynaeve, though she will deny it to her dying day.

Wonder Woman isn't. Galadan doesn't care enough. Flemeth has better things to do. And Michael has always been better than you in all the stories, so it doesn't matter.

All of my characters are very competitive with themselves, except Legolas and Sebastian. So: Melinda, Clint, Chuck, John Connor, Darcy, Quatre.

Chuck is like Lynne's description of Ysalwen. He will often bring something up and up and up until he manages to win at least once, though, because he's stubborn as fuck.

Clint is incredibly competitive, but very easy going if he loses if it's a friendly competition.

Melinda May is not competitive, but she can have fun in a friendly fight or showing off.

Darcy is only internally competitive -- both with herself, and silently with other people (she wouldn't TELL you you're competing with her, but she's pleased when she wins).

John Connor is deeply competitive, but mostly silently (like Darcy).

Quatre is not aware of how competitive he is, but he WILL WIN. WINNING IS WHAT HE DOES. I mean /coughs. He's in it for the good of humanity, guys.

The not competitive with themselves:

Legolas is really competitive with people who are on his level, but he can get bored really quick if he either loses regularly or wins regularly.

Sebastian finds competing enjoyable! But he does not find it at all, you know, a reason to do anything.

Duo is competitive, but not a sore loser or winner. Friendly teasing is okay! He can get a little tetchy when someone solidly defeats him at something he thinks he's good at, but he'll get over it.

Coyote will beat you. At anything. She doesn't need a bet or a dare, but that will make her worse. She will gloat if she wins, or sulk if she loses. Or try and kill you. Basically, don't compete with Coyote.

The only thing Ambriel is competitive about is fighting evil! Everything else is just a learning experience. Donatello is pretty much the same, but can be prodded into more seriously competing against his brothers or Casey Jones. He tries not to measure other people by his own standards.

Deadpool is...opinionated. But only competitive about fighting. He'll kick anyone's ass. He'll kick your ass, he'll kick your dog's ass, he'll kick his own ass. He'll gloat if he wins, but accept being beaten by someone who is cool enough.

Brienne is highly competitive, both against herself and other people. She cares about the things she does and wants to be good at them. She's a sporting loser, though--it would be dishonorable not to be!

Fantine is also kind of competitive at games and such. She likes to win, it's fun!

Combeferre tries to be philosophical and uncompetitive but he inevitably gets really into whatever the game or contest is.

Jehan Prouvaire is genuinely uncompetitive, or at least always playing in a different game--he'd rather have a dramatic defeat than a bland win.
