DE: Left behind

This week my daughter is across the country in the East Coast, taking in DC, NY, and other historic sights in Boston.

Taking inspiration from this, how does your pup taking being left behind? For however you wish to define being left behind of course.

From Seimei's perspective being left behind is just a thing that happens, and is a flavor of mono no aware (the pathos of things).

He makes a distinction between being "left behind" and being "abandoned," and is not so chill about the latter.

Sounds like your daughter is off on a big adventure, BTW! Try not to worry too much.

Yay! If she hasn't gone through DC yet and has a flexible schedule, I recommend that she visit Adams-Morgan, Dupont Circle, and Georgetown. It's fun to just stroll through those neighborhoods.

Alas it is a school trip and very firmly scheduled. Yesterday was a lot of the memorials about DC and today was the Capital building. Not sure what the afternoon will be.

BTW, are you OK with continuing the threads with Hank and with Izana? I'm busy with projects this morning but would like to play them forward or decide on a hand wave fade.

I would prefer to continue the threads! I know not everyone feels the same way but I will take ultra-slowtiming over dropping a thread any day of the week. :)

Ahsoka: Hates being left behind. At present she is the oldest jedi initiate left in her clan (think class) and is getting worried she will never be a padawan.

Sabine: Is more okay with it but I think she worries about the other person since she isn't there to watch their back.

Selina: Not a big fan, at least where her mother is concerned (psst, hey Gotham writers, you that story thread dangling). As to friends, I think she's okay with it though she'll feel left out if it's a fun place the other party is going to.

Hank: OK except for Erik and Raven leaving. Well, more Raven leaving. It feels too much like she rejected him and he doesn't quite understand why.

Sam: He's cool with it. Unless we're talking the Big Vacation, i.e. death, then he has the expected reactions; grief, anger, etc.

Izana: Puts on a brave face but wishes they were coming along. They do hope the other person will share stories and pictures when they return.

Eliot: He makes a big show of not caring but secretly he's worried and likely jealous.

Rollo: Does not do well at all. It tears at his heart and pisses him off. At least if we're talking about raiding. Shorter trips I think he'd be more okay with.

Eriond: Fine, it's a thing that happens, and life moves on.

Henry: Not super great, because of his circumstances, but also not super-poorly, because apparently that's just what happens to him: he gets left.

Evelyn: Not well, but in a be quietly unhappy and cope sense.

Lois: It's the big reason she breaks up with Oliver for good. If it's a romantic relationship, she demands equality and not being 'left behind' all the time. Being returned to even if away, that's different. (There's subtleties in the emotions involved.) Otherwise, honestly, she's always left behind anyway. She gets on with it. It hurts, but it's expected.

Tavi: Does more leaving than getting left, honestly. He's fine. He usually just wishes he could be having the adventure too instead of playing politics.

R2-D2: Probably usually just thinks his human is being stupid and needs his help, AKA upset, but you know what, there's work to be done.

Anakin: Poorly.

(I know Ananin would've turned even if Ahsoka hadn't left, but it was still a nail in that coffin.)

It is so not Ahsoka's fault. Getting out just means she lived.
