DE: Incommunicado

Opposite to yesterday's DE: What do your charries do when they want to be left alone / need to vanish for a while / don't feel like dealing with people, either remotely or in person?

Gene - goes to a different pub. On his own.

Javert - is always on his own. As is Banner, for that matter. And Bruce Wayne is more often than not. He just retreats to his rooms in the Manor and Alfred knows better than to bother him. Though these days, when he doesn't feel like dealing with the world he spends time with X instead because she is calming to be around and doesn't make him talk or conform to social expectations.

Valjean - heads into a garden, either to work or walk. Even if there are other people around, he's pretty good at disappearing into his head.

Courfeyrac - doesn't really happen. If it did there's the library, but if he's feeling down he'd much rather find one or more of his friends, and let them cheer him up.

Jack Aubrey - also doesn't really happen. He's constantly surrounded by people on board ship, and people when he's on land. He's intensely social. But if he wants a few minutes of peace he'll go and play his violin.

Jim - always alone.

Amelia here will run off to other planes, or just lock herself in her cabin.

Ahsoka lock her comm and find a crowded area to blend in.

Sabine will look for a place high and remote, or lock herself in her room with music blasting.

Selina does similar, heading for the roofs to get away from people.

Hank here will head for trees, likely to climb and hide. Other options are to read or draft up a new device while hanging upside down.

Touji heads for roofs to watch the city or countryside. He prefers doing this at night as he likes the twinkling lights more.

Sam goes running, or flying if he's got his wings. Cooking is another way to destress, as is sparing or punching a bag.

Rollo drinks or goes walking in the countryside. He's surly enough people usually give him space when he wants it.

Eliot just casts a circel of silence and sits to read. He's not picky about where he's sitting when he casts the circle either. The other physik kids have learned to tell when the room is about to go silent and will usually scowl and leave before the spell.

And Izana, not really a guy but...they go walking, usually up. Sometimes they will seek out shrines or viewing decks to get a sense of peace.

Enjolras rarely feels that way. If he's feeling quiet, he's more likely to go find some friends to be quiet around, whether it's one or two others in companionable silence or a crowded boisterous room for him to be silent and reserved in the midst of. But on the rare occasions when he does want solitude -- in Paris, there were his rooms, as long as no one was stopping by, since he didn't have a roommate. In Milliways, where he does, either he'll go for a walk or find somewhere at the back of the library, or he'll wait for Combeferre to do the same.

Cosette had a fair amount of ability to hang out in solitude for a few years pre-marriage. After a convent school experience where she was always surrounded by other girls, she and Valjean moved into a house where she actually had the whole little house to herself along with one live-in servant, and Valjean lived in an outbuilding because he's a self-denying weirdo. Now she's in Marius's grandfather's house, with his grandfather and aunt and several servants, and now Valjean too. She presumably shares her room with Marius, but also has at least one room that's more or less her own, or at least for the ladies. Still, I suspect she kind of got used to having more space to herself, both in terms of being the sole decorator in charge and in terms of having easy solitude, and at this point she's probably starting to miss it a little.

There's always Milliways, of course, where she does have rooms. But the door's kind of inconsistent.

Kazul goes flying. Or holes herself up in her caverns, now that she doesn't have a live-in princess, but it's a lot harder for people to come knocking when you're flying.

Thor also goes flying. Usually if he's avoiding people, he's having LOTS OF FEELINGS!!!, because he's otherwise a people person. (Honestly, even then he'd generally be up for select company, but sometimes you need to roar at the sky and not hold up your end of a conversation properly. And besides that, he knows himself well enough to know that the kind of mood where he wants to do that is also the kind of mood where his temper is likely to be dangerous.)

Eriond doesn't really get this, but riding with Horse somewhere alone does the trick.

Evelyn hides in a library or her room.

Lois goes driving or investigating or sometimes drinking (that never ends well, honestly, and probably ends in Clark babysitting a little). Sometimes ice cream and movie marathon at home. Sometimes going over to the farm and bothering Clark for entertainment value.

R2-D2 is mostly out of luck.

Anakin goes flying or finds somewhere removed to fix up a droid or a ship. This coping mechanism is, in fact, one that stays with him his whole life.

Tavi hides somewhere he can read. Or maybe vanishes to fly somewhere he won't be found (except by Kitai). Sometimes he just finds a room he can be alone in for a short time and sits in the dark, cries if he has to, and then gets back to life. This is the sort of thing he tends to think he doesn't have time for. Once they've moved to Appia, he'll punt a few things and go play around the archaeological digs, potentially as anonymously as he can manage.
