An old favorite but what's your type of pup? What kinds of characters are you drawn to? Are there some types you love but don't work for RP or aren't easy for you to make work?

Flawed heroes are a definite common trait. Leaning towards neutral good as well, with a healthy dose of snark.

I also am a sucker for those who should be monsters but aren't. Ben Grimm is a prime example of this.

Being witty, crafty, and/or Machiavellian is another bonus.

ETA: I'm also a sucker for seemingly harmless character who turn out to be badasses once pushed too far. The badass has to fit the character though and not just be generic shoot/stab all the things.

Also, a believable redemption story that doesn't erase the villain's or antihero's basic personality.

Sidekicks and/or reluctant leaders. (Occasionally both at once. Hi, Alistair!)

People with a steely core of competence that reveals itself most readily in stressful situations. Bonus points if you don't expect that steel core because they act like total doofuses 90% of the time. Bonus bonus points if they use that perception to their advantage, ensuring everyone underestimates them right until the competence strikes.

People who are genuinely trying to do the right thing, whatever form that might take.

I think that covers most of my "COME HERE AND LET ME LOVE YOU" impulses! But I'm sure I'll end up thinking of more later.

Damaged, must absolutely be damaged in some way. Snarky and sarcastic. Addicted to something/obsessed with something. Left of center (waaaaay left of center). Occasionally can be adorable and silly.

Some of my dormant pups are actually sweet, good-natured sidekicks. I don't know how that happened.

Tiwa has never had any complaints of Matt's style. Its best Sameth doesn't know all of Ava's life choices, not that his are that much better.

It probably wouldn't be as bad as she's fearing. Part of what helps is that what she's doing doesn't really map properly onto his world. Demons aren't really Free Magic, I mean some similar aspects but not a perfect match.

Really competent characters, who are somehow shy or reticent.

(I often jokingly gloss this as "secret badasses!!!" but a lot of them are not actually physically dangerous except in very specific circumstances. Quatre kinda knows how to throw a punch! Like. He practiced, a few times. It's been ... close to a decade. HE'S V. SCARY THANKS.)

... except Legolas and Filif (now retired), who are not shy or reticent. And Sebastian, who is only occasionally competent. I'm not sure where Ben Gates (National Treasure) fell.

Highly social people who like and are interested in other people.

Characters who never expected to become heroes, or never wanted to be, but are doing their best with what they've got!

Awkward boys becoming men after going through awful things and with a lot of responsibility thrust on them or will be. Also princes of various types, curious, want to fix the world and they care a lot but don't always know what to do about it.

All my pups are fueled by personal tragedies, or despair, or denial about those things, in ways that are often not evident to them, and may or may not be evident to other people.

I don't think I have a clear type, or at least, any possible type is thrown off by the fact that I've got the Tracksuit Draculas on my roster. XD

With the exception of the Tracksuits, my type tends toward characters who are intelligent with at least a touch of wit, essentially good people who sometimes question what it means to be a good person, and can play both drama and humor.

The latter is especially true right now, since brain fog has made pure crack the easiest thing for me to make work.

(The Tracksuits are of course, not the brightest guys around, or they wouldn't be low-level thugs, essentially bad people who don't question their lack of morals, and will ruin all your best dramatic moments.)
