Monday DE: I reject your reality and insert my own

 Since I just woke from an awesome dream where I was asked to consult on designing Sabine Wren for EP VIII, I'm going to get the DE up early. 

AU week is coming. Got any ideas you'd like to share? Or are you looking for them?

I was thinking of playing with the X-Men Fairy Tales with Hank as an actual blue monkey, but then I thought Overwatch AU! There's even a character I can use for him, though I think I'll go with a gorilla mutant rather then a genetically engendered one.

The Overwatch Au can even spin out of Days of Future Past where the mutants banded together and managed to defeat the sentinels before they took over the world.

And for Selina:

Power is what moves the gears in Gotham, and nothing holds more power than magic. High in their towers, the sorcerer barons grow ever more potent on the lives of those below them. Out in the city, the City Watch maintains the status quo, vying only for the favor of the barons within their district. Left with nothing, the innocent pray to the Bat to guard them, while everyone else prays to the Cat.

Selina is the forgotten bastard daughter of the Calbrise patriarch. She has fought her way to the lofty palaces of Gotham's sorcerous elite from the streets themselves and now nothing will remove her from her rightful place; not even her nocturnal hobby of stalking the streets for those who would torment and feast on those less fortunate.

High magic mixed with the Godfather as only Gotham can produce.

I can't decide if it works better as a high fantasy or ragtime as far as visuals go.

I can't place ragtime as anything but the music ):. High fantasy set in a city during the time period ragtime was popular would be interesting, though.

That's pretty much what I meant. "The Great Gatsby", "Peakybinders", "Newsies", Bonnie and Clyde, all the black and white ganster movies from early films. A big part of my thinking for this time period is the robber barons/industrialists of the pre-Depression US and being able to use Erte inspired dresses.

Honestly, this is morphing into another AU idea I had for a pulp Jessica Drew with Lovecraftian undertones. :)

Unrelated, but a friend of mine was by the Brooklyn waterfront the other night and got some pics of GCPD squad cars and a van. I was so jealous.

I have one that I'm pretty sure I'm doing, at one point I wrote a Sameth AU in the world of the Hunger Games with a fic based on it, Victor's Son, major warning for death and violence. If I did play him it would be before the fic.

Will might end up in AU Hogwarts as I love playing him in that canon.

William I'm considering doing something perhaps with Newsies but I don't know what yet.

If I play Jane, I'll probably do her from the same fix-it AU that I did last time.

All the others, I'm really not sure. Moist could easily fit into a number of different canons and be a lot of fun.

Doing any canon AUs with Ivan or Quentin would be very complicated but they might work tossed in another world.

I'm not sure about Charles, I'd love to try one for him but haven't had an idea that made me go, yes. I'd be interested in any suggestions that anyone else has.

We could do that dark Days of Future past I came up with a while ago. The one where Charles and Erik seemingly got assassinated. We could ep with Hank rescuing Charles and needing the infirmary.

Or an urban legends Au comes to mind, but I think that'd be easier with Hank than Charles.

Or just a straight up rule 63/gender swap. I've already a female PB for Hank.

That could be interesting. I actually have a fic in progress that could line up well with what's going on with Charles as a captive. Gender swaps can be fascinating.

For Hawke, I'm planning on bringing him in as a hardline pro-Templar pro-Tranquility virulently anti-mage all-angry-red-options warrior. This is only debatably AU, since you can play him like that in-game.

For Yamato, an AU where all eight of the kids are infected with dark spores from Millenniumon, resulting in the spores distorting their minds - and instead of killing Apocalymon, they instead imprison him and siphon off his power, deciding to rule over the twin worlds as gods. Even got a good AU form for Gabumon, in the form of Sangloupmon, who has the twin bonuses of a) Being a blue wolf, and b) Being a vampiric parasite who saps the energy and life blood of those around him, making him perfectly representative of 'friendship gone wrong.'

Pretty sure I'm going with a straight-up daemon AU again. Comparatively little Sariel and an as-yet unsettled Alexandre Verlaine will be coming in again. Not sure at exactly what age, though.
