Having asked about decision-making earlier...how's your pups on long-term planning? Where do they see themselves in five years, ten, twenty? Is it something they're working actively to achieve, or do they feel like passengers on a ride?

Gene - does not long-term plan, because he's him and he's where he wants to be. He'll be a copper until eventually having to retire. Whatever 'retire' means in his world - probably handing the DCI mantle on.

Nor do Javert, Valjean, Courfeyrac or Bruce Banner, because they are all at the whim of something else. Javert is powerless to the system and his own self-doubt, Valjean places himself in the hands of God, Banner has the Hulk and Courfeyrac is dead. The latter has a long-term vision for France he'd like to see realised, but he's played his part in that arena.

Bruce Wayne has a long-term vision for Gotham - to rid it of criminal influence - but whether he'll be able to that is something he's not sure about. The mantle will get passed on there eventually as well.

Jack Aubrey has ambitions! And now that he's a post-Captain, he knows all he has to do is stay alive and in the Navy, and he'll rise up the lists to Rear Admiral and beyond. He also should in merit his fathers land and title, so is looking forward to a life lived at sea as long as possible, and land and money at home.

Jim - is the master of long-term planning, to a ridiculous degree. Yes, he definitely has something he's actively working to achieve (sorry Sherlock, you still have to go). Where does he see himself in five, ten, twenty years time? Uhhh....ask me after Series 4. :/

Ahsoka - Playing things loose at best. She is definitely one for reacting to things rather than long term plans.

Sabine - Seems like she should be a planner but I see no evidence of this from canon. Perhaps because canon is a weekly serial?

Selina - Another for not planning too far into the future as long as the present is taken care of. She has a loose idea of where she wants to be, or rather how comfortable and/or adventurous she wants her life to be, but doesn't ahve a long range plan on how to get there. She seems more to have her eye out for opportunities to get where she wants.

Amelia - She definitely has plans but I think they are just starting. At this point it's simply become powerful enough her mother is no longer an issue.

Sam - I think he's a definite planner but allows for things to change. For instance he never planned on becoming an Avenger but will adapt his plans accordingly.

Rollo - Not a planner, at least at present. He knows he wants fame, but doesn't seem that active or creative in gaining that fame. Things will change in season 04.

Izana - A planner and for most of their life they've focused solely on becoming a pilot and defending Sidonia. That plan is coming to fruition if I ever get off my duff,

Touji - Seems like he just drifts through life, but he definitely has a plan and a crafty mind to get it done. He seizes opportunities or makes them to get his goal accomplished. And he doesn't sacrifice people to do it, though he will attempt alliances that at first are awkward.

Hank - Definitely a planner. The new plan is to get Xavier's school up and running so they can help fellow mutants find a safe haven to learn to use their powers safely. Ultimately he will become a potent force for mutant rights and visibility, but he's not quite there yet.

It depends on whether or not Wilford's perspective is all brand new, or if he's coming off of a reset. He's at a point right now where most of his long-term goals have been achieved, and at the same time, the nature of his job kind of rules out a lot of planning ahead in some ways.

When he's looking at something from a brand new perspective, he's very fast and loose with his actions. As long as things keep moving forward, he's doing the right thing. But the second they start going backwards, he gets very meticulous and tries to get everything perfect. Sometimes, it's the small, seemingly insignificant changes that can impact everything, and he knows to look out for those.

Where does he see himself down the line? He's kind of happy where he is. He's got a show with his name on it, and he's got the clout to do whatever he wants on it, apparently. He'll stay here quite happily for the next few decades, if the job doesn't kill him first.

For YT long-term planning has generally not been a thing. That's changed recently - she is serious about doing well in school so she can get into college.

With Abe no Seimei it's not so much about long-term planning as it is about laying the groundwork to address any situation or challenge that may arise. So I guess he's not really a planner but he is crazy prepared.
