Because I'm a ridiculous shivery ball of stress this morning over some really minor stuff:

What kind of dumb, silly, Definitely Not A Big Deal things do your characters stress about? Phone calls? Paperwork? That one time they were talking to a super-cool person but afterwards they realized they had spinach in their teeth...ten years ago?

Abe no Seimei is a little bit vain, and vanity is a well-known subtype of stressing about minor stuff.

Surprisingly, YT does not stress out a whole lot about small stuff, although she may start worrying about her grades more. She does get kind of stressed over paperwork, but this isn't entirely unreasonable given that many organizations in her world have significantly streamlined their paperwork processes, and having to do actual paperwork is like going back to the fucking Stone Age.

Me, I stress out about having to make phone calls. Sites like GetHuman help because they have all the tricks for bypassing phone trees/voice recognition systems at my bank or whatever.

Agreed! I love that modern phones allow texting.

Except for adult things like bills and other calls that still need to happen.

The current Toby Daye book is reminding me that while Quentin will happily take on horrible odds, blood and finds the Luidaeg comforting, adults having a sex life makes him want to go hide. And there's a whole lot of things that he doesn't mind facing when Toby's there, but his sense of proportion is weird.

Charles hates certain kinds of small talk because he can hear the real thoughts and he wants to get to the meat of things but knows that's not how things are done.

I need to think more about the others, I'm in a place where I"m overthinking so much stuff.

I think Emcee is better with children than he thinks, but he gets nervous around them and feels awkward. Like a kind of 'ah crap, there's a kid I have to interact with, what do I do/say' feeling. He would just rather not. Luckily he doesn't have to deal with children a lot anyway. The most practice he's getting is at Milliways with Bonnie's and Guppy's kids.
