So the play my guy William Douglas comes from got some rewrites and some cast changes between its first run and its recent run in Toronto. I’m expecting a copy of the new version in the mail any day now--and I’m hella excited.
I know getting canon changes or new canon information can be a huge cringe-worthy thing for a lot of characters, but what’s a time that you’ve been really pleased with a change or new info added to your character’s canon?

Well. "Going to" in the sense that Susanna Clarke's apparently been working on it for twelve years. But then, she had JS&MN for ten years before she sent it to a publisher.

Like, I probably should have seen that coming, but I really didn't.
The few seconds after-credits were even better because there's a biiiiiiig difference in using a gif that anyone could put together, and actually getting the actor back in to say the words.

I like Kylo being Han and Leia's son.

This past issue she got to tell off Captain America for the stupid plot of Civil War 2, the giant mega crossover happening now. All 'you know, if you didn't come to arrest old man logan because that guy had a vision he'd kill Gabby and you wanted to prevent it -- it wouldn't have happened, none of your dudes would have died, and Gabby wouldn't have gotten stabbed! KNOCK IT OFF. And then she told Maria Hill to shove it and took Gabby and herself and Jonathan away from this entire event to somewhere they cannot be found. And that is how I feel about the whole stupid Event, too. So. VICTORY.

Sabine: "I'm Clan Wren, House Vizsla." I totally lost my shit when she said this. SO looking forward to the coming season's Mandalorian plots.
Rollo: Oh holy shit, how many times can they shift his narrative? First he betrays Ragnar, then gives himself up to Ragnar, then earns his place back! Then he's totally cool uncle to Bjorn. Then he throws his lot in with the Franks and turns his back on Kattegat, kicks Ragnar and the Vikings ass to defend Paris. And now in the coming season he's going to ally himself with the Vikings again?!?!?
Amelia: Holy shit, the last book! The author is totally shifting Amelia's story and I am hopeful she'll play a bigger part in the next book. Total game changer for the character and the plot. I can't wait! (Being vague as major spoilers, even if no one else is reading the books.)

They came up with an add-on called Broken Steel in which you could persuade at least one of your radiation-immune companions to do it for you, and if you opted to do it yourself anyway, you'd wake up after a two-week coma and have more plot to pursue. It made me so much happier to have something other than 'yeah, dead hero or living jerk who gets castigated by Ron Perlman, followed by abrupt and complete end of plot' as an option.

My happy moment was discovering the original ending to Mass Effect 3 - an ending which actually tied in with some stuff earlier in canon and made @$&!#%^* sense. I was just glad to know that such a thing existed.

though I really wasn't pleased with any of the changes made to my Jonathan Strange characters' canons for TV, buuut that's not the question

Thank goodness Alan Cumming stayed for the whole run or else I wouldn't have seen it as many times as I did >_> The 1998 run lasted years and included John Stamos, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jon Secada as the Emcee. I would now kill to have seen NPH. There have been countless interpretations of the musical and Emcee himself, including a Boston production that had Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls, and a Danish one with a 6'7 mustached redhead. I was thinking of doing something really cracky and bringing all the incarnations of the Emcee into Milliways one by one starting with Joel Grey.

Of my others who actually get new canon, I picked up an ARC of Goldenhand, the new Old Kingdom novel at the library conference in June but haven't read it yet. I'm not expecting there to be too much about Sameth in it but there might be and I'll take anything I can about what he does. The last Old Kingdom book provided some useful world building but not as much as I was hoping.
I didn't get a chance to see X-Men Apocalypse in the theaters but I've been hearing good stuff so I'm curious. That's another where I'm a ways from playing Charles from that point in canon, but if I've seen it then I can provide canon Charles for canonmates.
There's a new Vorkosigan book, which I haven't read yet but since I'm playing Ivan from earlier canon, not a big deal. Also from all the reviews I've read, I don't expect Ivan to be hugely impacted by that canon, I mean he'll have a reaction but won't require as much as might happen.
All my others are from closed canons or where newer books don't impact them and they're far from that point in canon.

It is doubtful my other two will ever receive more canon, even though canon is ongoing.
