A long overdue announcement
On Halloween of 2006, ten years ago today, I posted into Milliways for the first time, bringing a certain blue-skinned computer sprite into the bar at the end of the universe.
It was a very different community then. We were still being hosted on LiveJournal; most of the current players had yet to hear of the game; and the regulars of Milliways included the Endless, Roland Deschain and his ka-tet, and most of the cast of Rent and Veronica Mars, among many others. It took me four months to work up the nerve to app Bob in the first place, and it wasn’t until the tofu plot in December of that year that I started to really feel like a part of the community. From there I went on to app dozens more characters (some of which only lasted a few posts before their headvoices fizzled), introduce others to the game, and even organize a few bar-wide plots myself. Through roleplaying here, I have met new friends, discovered new canons to enjoy, improved as a writer, and I believe I’ve improved as a person.
But, alas, all good things must come to an end.
For the last year or so I’ve been struggling to get any RP done. After a great deal of soul-searching, I have decided to officially retire from Milliways, effective as of today. I’ll still be around on AIM and Dreamwidth, as well as on various and sundry forms of social media, but my time as a denizen of the bar at the end of the universe is done.
Long days and pleasant nights, folken, and thank you all for everything.
