A little while back, there was discussion about this sort of thing. Since there was a little bit of interest in this idea, I've created a small, unofficial Discord server to supplement Crackchat. It has a few advantages over AIM, the main one being it's accessible to mobile users without having to go through extreme amounts of frustration and work-arounds that don't always like to work.

You can access Discord by clicking the link, which will take you to a web applet. You can also download a desktop client for Discord from this page, as well as getting it from your phone or tablet's app store. All versions are free to download.

Right now, the server is set up to require email verification, to keep the amount of randos wandering in at a minimum. Players who enter the server will need to be verified by other players in order to see chat history, post links and images, and access the plotting rooms. All verified users can verify other users. You can also kick out people who don't belong on the server. If you want to help mod the server (which gives you the ability to ban the randos), let me know.

ETA: once you're verified, you should have the ability to verify other players without having to wait for me to get to my computer. Just right click on their name and go down to the bottom of the pop up menu where it says roles. This is only available on the PC client, and maybe Android right now? All I know is it's not on iOS, which is where I am the majority of the time. \o/

You can't comment on the main channel as an unverified (by another player) user, which seems counter-intuitive to actually getting verified. Should we just post here?

You ought to be able to chat in the crackchat channel. The welcome channel is locked to admins only, since it's a landing page.

I haven't been able to get into crackchat for several months because the AIM network no longer supports the antiquated version of Trillian I use and I don't know what other AIM clients are any good. I may end up joining the Discord. (I'm CameoAppearance on there.)

None are any good, in my experience. I've tried so, so many over the last few months, and only Trillian works on my PC, which I never use because it's a piece of junk in a room with no light.
