Well, my move is mostly done and we met the first deadline. We'll are out of the apartment today! Why do I mention this? Well, despite the challenge, I can't help feeling like I've upgraded since I'm back to living in a house with lots of space, which in turn leads me to today's topic:
What challenge has your pup faced in order to make an upgrade? Challenges and upgrades come in many forms of course, so interpret this as you will.
ETA: Alt question - Informal survey; what sort of daily entertainment topics do you enjoy most? Memes, character focused questions, mun focused questions, writing process questions, etc.

Rollo: Turning his back on his people and culture, learning Frankish, getting his lovely hair cut shorter, and then defending his adopted people from his old people. Of the lot, I'd say learning to speak Frankish fluently was the hardest challenge, at least that's how it seemed on screen.
Izana: Facing combat and the near complete annihilation of the squadron they were part of. The mission was a success, and they found their fear did not get in the way of getting the job done, but damn was there a high cost. There's another upgrade that happens in season 02, but since I'm still in season 01, I'll leave it be.
More later maybe.

Pam made a huge upgrade by becoming a vampire. She wasn't happy as a human. Sure, she was independent, running her own brothel, but that was just a dead end, literally, for women at the turn of the century. She could never marry, could never be accepted into society, and she would suffer from horrible diseases. In Eric she saw a way out. She was prepared to kill herself to force him to save her.
Eta: Oh and I kind of like character focused questions best. But questions that examine writing processes/inspiration for your pups are great, too.

Fantine moved to Paris from the countryside, which was a pretty big upgrade in terms of her ability to make an independent living as a seamstress (rather than working as a live-in farm-girl with people she wasn't related to), and to meet new people and just have a wider scope for what she could do. Of course she also met her jerk boyfriend this way, but she did see having Cosette as a wholly positive thing. Later she left Paris and went back to her home town, where she got a job at a factory, which was another upgrade in terms of money/standard of living...until she lost it and it was all downhill from there.
I guess Milliways was an upgrade! From grinding poverty/tuberculosis/abuse/degradation/death to a place where she knows her daughter is safe and she gets everything she needs with no worries.
