Thursday DE

Whoops, I almost forgot to get a DE up before heading out for the morning!

Hmm. ...What is a holiday you or your characters would like to see celebrated in the bar?

Jim doesn't care one way or the other, but if forced to choose he'd shrug and say St. Patrick's Day. He doesn't feel excessively Irish, but people getting wankered and wearing green might be funny, if they do it hard enough.

Nothing but green beer, green bagels, green everything.

Jim: *dead stare* You're talking about American St. Patrick's, obviously. I mean the Irish kind, where everyone drinks Guinness until they're sick, and sings a lot.

yes jim but be careful what you wish for
you say "st patrick's" and you're gonna get the most over-the-top american version

Jim: ...

...it may have crossed my mind. But only a dozen or so times a day.

I know Sabine would like there to *never* be an Empire Day celebration in bar.

A Mandalorian holiday could be fun, but as near as I can tell, holidays and such like haven't been written out in any of the Star Wars mediums. Maybe I should look into Spartan culture to find an appropriate holiday to use as inspiration.

Touji wouldn't mind some Japanese festivals, though I'd need to properly research them. I know canon only shows one festival, called the Fireworks Festival, but I know I love the local Obon Festival in my neck of the world.

I'm also enamored of the idea of the Indian Holi festival but have no pups from that culture and so can't see how to bring it about without appropriation.

The Cherry Blossom Festival! Seimei actually made it happen this spring (more or less) and barring force majeure he will do it next spring too.

That was fun, this spring!

Wilford might be secretly pleased to see a Lunar New Year festival. He couldn't care less about the ancestor worship or the family aspect, but any excuse to have a lot of food and alcohol around is a good one.

I doubt it could work in Milliways, but Emcee would probably love to see the festival for Dionysus.

All of my pre-19th-century characters are wondering why everyone's so fussed about Christmas and is totally skipping the other eleven days. Viola, of course, thinks we ought to be paying much more attention to Twelfth Night.

Brienne would like to see just about ANY holiday from her 'verse, but particularly Warrior's Day or Maiden's Day. Each of the Seven gods has their own holiday; those two are her favorite holidays, in my headcanon.

Fantine likes any and all cheerful, festive holidays and isn't particularly fussed about which ones. Bonus if it's a chance to dress up and have music.

Combeferre has a sneaking fondness for Easter and the churchy aspects of it.

Jehan Prouvaire wants more dramatic/morbid saints' days, more holidays from cultures he's not intimately familiar with, and a longer and more drawn out Halloween where everyone gets really in-character for their costumes.
