Friday DE

Let's finish off the week taking insparation from the crack theme Maru was playing with. What are some of the crack pup's you've played or thought of playing?

I think Edward Wong Hau Pepleu Tivrusky IV, A.K.A. Radical Edward (of Cowboy BeBop), probably qualified as a crackpup. If I still played her she'd currently be hanging from the rafters wearing jingle bells and singing off-key Christmas songs - at full volume.

I keep the Chief from Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? on my roster just in case she's needed to start up some sort of crack plot!

As I think I've told you, I occasionally think about apping Carmen.

You know she'd have a soft spot for Feuilly, which might or might not be reciprocated--he would not approve of thefts of priceless artifacts that are important to national heritage.

I suppose that Sideshow Bob was a crackpup. I didn't intend for him to be one, but things ended up that way. Which is why I retired him and sent him to the perdition of the sandboxes, where every so often his dulcent tones and malevolent ways resurface.

I feel like the exact same thing happened with Chandler Bing when I had him. He wasn't meant to be a crackpup, but the sitcom nature of his canon sure turned him into one.

Years ago, I was seriously considering bring in Charlotte from the Making Fiends web series, to the point where I had made a journal for her and a bio, but I never apped her. I didn't know if I could keep up the crackiness of a crack pup for more than a limited time.

I knew I could keep a crack pup for a limited time, though, because back in the LJ days I brought in Frederick Chilton from Silence of the Lambs specifically for the purpose of being a large, pompous ham, and then being made into sausage. ^_^''

I also have a vague notion of another crack character, or at least a minor deus ex machina/plot device character whose voice has been in and out of my head the last year or so. But I don't know if I'll ever really app her. >_>

The vast majority of them. I still miss Penn & Teller, and even Jools brings a nostalgic tear to my eye. But Jools and Teller gave me actual headaches, so I'm not sorry to see them gone.

Wilford is definitely crack, and Dodger probably counts. I'm thinking about apping a few more next year that are also firmly in the crack section.

You are, like, the maestro of crackpups.

After I posted that comment, I came to the conclusion that Nicholas Angel was the only pup I ever had that was even remotely serious. I thought Gus might have been in that camp as well, but then I remembered the snuff-film-making reverend he spent his entire canon failing to blackmail, and yeah. Gus was pretty weird too, now that I think about it.

Zombie Ed from Shaun of the Dead. He once had a great thread with someone else's wordless pup, Grommit.

The Pirate King from Pirates of Penzance was definitely a crack pup and a huge amount of fun, but I had trouble sustaining him for very long.
