I've watched all of Netflix's Midnight Diner: Tokyo Stories episodes. There's only ten of them, but it's a fascinating little anthology series with a serious understanding of human nature, and I really like the Master as a character. That's the only name ever given for the man who runs the titular diner- it's a little place down a side alley in Tokyo's Shinjuku district, and it's open from midnight to seven AM. Limited menu, but the Master will make whatever the customers ask for so long as he has the ingredients for it. The stories are equally likely to be about the cast of regulars or about the people who only drop in once.
About 25 minutes. Apparently it's a live-action adaptation of an extremely popular manga series, so there's probably manga issues out there too, but I haven't gone looking for them yet.
I'm hoping they do a second season, but if they don't, they did a good job with what they had.
I'm falling for the Imperial Radch series; I'm not quite done with the first book yet, but I already love so much about it. It's such a wonderfully well built world, and the POV character feels so solid (annnnd it's hitting so many of my Go Rebellion buttons, because I am predictable. But I'm fine with that.)
I may have binge-watched the entire first season of The Magicians, which was pretty good! I enjoyed it, definitely. The characters were interesting and the story was compelling, even if it was problematic in some areas. Sunshine informed me that she kind of wants to adopt late-season Eliot because he reminds her somewhat of herself during the later days of the Wars.
I believe tonight is the premiere of "Taboo" on FX, and I have no idea what it's about except there's Tom Hardy in the dark and grimy underside of Victorian London and there's some kind of magic involved and creepy characters and stuff but the trailer made me go what IS this I MUST WATCH.
Just watched, and it's pretty intriguing! It actually takes place much earlier in 1814, so there's that particular backdrop of history. I haven't seen Tom Hardy in many things, but here he is riveting.
I'm late to the party, but I've recently been watching The Man in the High Castle (CW: Nazis), which is so much better than the book, and Marco Polo, which does suffer from random nudity but the intrigues and fighting choreography more than make up for it.
I've also been listening to the audiobook for Star Wars: Bloodline and holy shit is it good. A whole book focused on Leia Organa, the first of it's kind and it does not disappoint.
OMG, the Khan could be so interesting in bar! Like would he think it was an extension of his kingdom since it obviously was connected to his palace? If not, would he decide to rule it anyway and seek out the Landlord to defeat them? So much potential!
Or, he might just see it as a place to put his feet up and have a drink? Maybe teach the patrons how to play proper board games?
heheh, I'd love a chance to thread him with Sonya. Female warriors aren't unknown to him after all so meeting a female officer wouldn't strike him as totally odd.
If you like fun, Douglas Adams-inspired podcast dramas, I wholeheartedly recommend Radiation World. Funny, smart, well-written, well-acted, free, and the producers are committed to paying everyone involved in the show because they believe writers/actors/sound engineers deserve to be able to put food on their table like anyone else. Great stuff.
I haven't really fallen into the fandom, but I've been enjoying the Suicide Squad movie. I was totally ambivalent about it and it ended up being a lot of fun.
I haven't got into anything new, but I have fallen in love with Sherlock all over again. This time, I'm going to stay the eff away from the fandom this time, so as not to spoil it all again.

It had occurred to me but the last thing I need is another pup.
ETA: Plus, while I loved the Khan, Hundred Eyes was the character that spoke the most to me.
