Tuesday DE: Coffee, caf and the like...
In view of recent threads: talk about the role of coffee and tea and their equivalents in the world and canon of your charrie, and for them personally.

Leesha and I decided some time back that coffee was extinct other than the seed samples in various seed vaults around the world in Half-Life. Guarana beverages, and to a lesser degree yerba mate, have taken the place of tea and coffee.
Pacific Rim canon still has coffee and tea in existence, but if you live in one of the countries where the harbors are affected by kaiju attack, they're damned expensive. Stacker pays through the nose for his tea. He tends to get his coffee at Milliways; it's easier.
Tea exists in Thedas. My general impression is that it's the primary/only stimulant beverage; one of the characters in Dragon Age Inquisition uses it to clear sleep from his head even though he detests the stuff (which is a bit weird to hear him say given that his voice actor is better known for playing Ianto Jones). I don't think coffee exists, or at least I haven't heard any references to it in canon. The closest the games come to evidence of the existence of coffee is the presence of a cafe' in Val Royeaux's market district. Despite the name I assume they are primarily a teahouse with food options. Drinking cocoa does exist and is occasionally combined with marshmallows (guimauves being the word used, but they're marshmallows), although the one time it's mentioned is in surreptitious inter-party banter that makes it sound as if the stuff is on the rare side.
Quicksilver's canon is basically 'America, with mutants'. It's still the 1970s for him so coffee shops are more of the lunch counter variety than the Starbucks chain presence variety. Tea is tea. People will look at you funny if you ask for specific varieties other than 'Lipton' in most places.
I'm not sure what social roles coffee and tea had in late 1960s Mexico, for Santo. I'm going to have to look that up.

For Xephos, they've never been a thing. Not unless one of the mods they were using had it in, and they just never used that part of the mod, but I'm going to go with the easier answer of no.
Wilford's world is basically modern America with more guns and added monsters, so coffee is everywhere. He wouldn't survive without coffee, and probably has a loyalty card at Bean Machine (his world's Starbucks). Tea of many varieties is also available, but he doesn't make it at home, and really only drinks it when it's served before a meal at a restaurant.
