Thursday DE: speed dating (or speed hating) edition
You ever feel like it’s hard to meet characters? Hard to find reasons to throw two characters together, and not sure you want to commit to a whole scene? Let’s try speed dating: Comment with your characters below, and people will tag in for a speed date. To simulate the time limit, each conversation can go no longer than 7 tags from each person. Characters who come as a set can absolutely join too, nothing wrong with a three-way or more-way date! (And no, these absolutely do not have to be dating-type conversations. Speed arguing, speed hating, speed friendly chatting, those are good too. Just throw characters at each other.)
This is all off-the-record, of course, not really IC. Unless someone has a character who wants to ICly set this up.
EDIT: this is open till whenever, tag on in!

So, this is a thing that is happening and Barry is trying to hide his nerves as he sits at a table with a Coke and one foot fast tapping on the hardwood floor (but not too fast).
Meeting new people is great! He’s just not the best at it. Especially the first impressions part, and since this is basically just a first impression he has no idea how it’s going to go.
He’s just going to try really, really hard not to weird people out. That’s a good goal, right?

"At least you're cute."
She can hear his pulse and it is insane.
"What did you do, drink a vat of Starbucks?"
no subject
"Uh, thanks."
His foot comes to a quick stop and he smooths a hand down the front of his sweater, giving an awkward laugh.
"Just a little nervous I guess. I'm Barry. Hi." He offers his hand, and another smile.

Fine, she'll play along.
She reaches out and slips her hand into his. It's pale, slender, elegant, and also quite cool. Almost corpse-like.
"Pam. Don't be nervous," she drawls. "I'm not gonna bite."
no subject
"Oh, no, you don't make me nervous." Although, apparently she does to go by how awkward and embarrassed that sounded. "I just don't do a whole lot of social... stuff."
He coughs, again awkward, and tries to turn the subject.
"So what do you do where you're from?"
no subject
"Neither do I." Social stuff. Ugh.
But he smells delicious, so she'll allow herself some amusement.
"I co-run a bar in Shreveport, Louisiana. And yourself?"
no subject
He takes a drink of his soda before answering her question, "I'm a forensic assistant for the Central City police department."

"Yeah, pretty weird." Giving a nod, he gestures at the chair. "Go for it. I'm Barry Allen."
The guy's appearance is a little startling on first look, but Barry doesn't hesitate to offer his hand with the introduction.

"It's cool. My world has what we call metahumans. I've heard they're kind of the same."
