Thursday DE: speed dating (or speed hating) edition

You ever feel like it’s hard to meet characters? Hard to find reasons to throw two characters together, and not sure you want to commit to a whole scene? Let’s try speed dating: Comment with your characters below, and people will tag in for a speed date. To simulate the time limit, each conversation can go no longer than 7 tags from each person. Characters who come as a set can absolutely join too, nothing wrong with a three-way or more-way date! (And no, these absolutely do not have to be dating-type conversations. Speed arguing, speed hating, speed friendly chatting, those are good too. Just throw characters at each other.)

This is all off-the-record, of course, not really IC. Unless someone has a character who wants to ICly set this up.

A lanky woman who's taste in fashion trends towards 'varied', blinking at the world through yellow-tinted glasses, flops into the seat opposite, and helps herself to a cookie.

"So, what brings a nice guy like you to a joint like this?"

His laugh is as loud and uncomplicated as he is. It's a great, booming belly laugh, free from worry and care.

"That's a big assumption!" he says, his eyes sparkling. "How do you know if I'm nice? I'm Baze Malbus, by the way."

No, Baze has not had many pick up lines used on him, why do you ask?

"I am an excellent judge of character." She grins, leaning back so she can put her feet up. "Jillian Holtzann - why would you provide cookies you weren't eating if you aren't nice?"

"It's all part of my dastardly plan," Baze says, folding his palms together on the table. "First, I lure people in with promises of conversation and refreshments. Then... Then I steal their souls, through a very complicated process that I won't get into, now. I haven't really thought the second half of the plan through, let's be honest."

As if Baze is never not honest.

"These are not soul-stealing cookies. You'd need at least another pound of butter in this recipe to accomplish that." Holtzmann replies sounding.... remarkably confident about her assessment. "I mean, they're not bad, but someone ripped you off."

"Oh, no!" Baze says mournfully, plucking up a cookie to inspect it. "But they're my favorites. I can't use cookies that aren't my favorites. That makes the soul-stealing plan so impersonal."

Speech said, he stuffs the treat into his mouth.
