Thursday DE: speed dating (or speed hating) edition

You ever feel like it’s hard to meet characters? Hard to find reasons to throw two characters together, and not sure you want to commit to a whole scene? Let’s try speed dating: Comment with your characters below, and people will tag in for a speed date. To simulate the time limit, each conversation can go no longer than 7 tags from each person. Characters who come as a set can absolutely join too, nothing wrong with a three-way or more-way date! (And no, these absolutely do not have to be dating-type conversations. Speed arguing, speed hating, speed friendly chatting, those are good too. Just throw characters at each other.)

This is all off-the-record, of course, not really IC. Unless someone has a character who wants to ICly set this up.

The strike of her heels on the floorboards catches his attention, and he's taking her in before she's finished her approach.

Lifting his head he nods, returning the smile that he can hear in her voice. "Absolutely."

"Wonderful," she replies, genuinely pleased, and settles gracefully on one of the nearby seats to sip her coffee and watch the people paired off in conversation. Along with the scents of expensive, freshly-drycleaned clothes and a Los Angeles springtime, she is wearing just a touch of Tom Ford's Black Orchid perfume on her neck above the collar of her blouse, applied some hours ago.

"Odd to think that at the end of the universe they would hold a little event for people to get to know one another, don't you think?" she remarks, amused. It's an odd get-together for one to find oneself in, but she has no hint of awkwardness about her. She is not young, but neither is she edging on old; she has merely had time to develop her comfort and confidence in herself. "With such interesting people coming in from all sorts of different worlds, I would think such a strange gimmick wouldn't be necessary."

He likes her confident bearing, it's the kind that's easy to pick up on and that spreads to others, alleviating any awkwardness another might feel in the company of a stranger.

"Well, it is a big place, and considering how time works here, and all the worlds that might enter, an event like this could provide opportunity to bring together some who have never met before," he muses.

"Including those who might not be the social butterflies," he adds with a wry chuckle.
