Tuesday DE: Renormalizing

Something has disrupted your character's routine whether expected or not. Could be vacation, could be forgetting pills one day, could be a car malfunction, whatever. How swiftly do they recalibrate, and do they have any particular tricks for it?

If the Order didn't teach Ahsoka to adapt and recover to new situations, than I am certain Anakin has. About the only thing I can see her having trouble readjusting to would be peace and not having anything to do.

As to tricks...well, I hadn't thought she'd have anything but then she just told me Rex taught her a rhyme the clones learn while packing their gear in basic; to make sure they get everything and everything in the proper order. I guess this means she adapts it to whatever she might be having trouble readjusting to.

A lot of mine are really good at this, its apparently part of the type I tend to pick. I think its because I enjoy the unexpected in my life, part of why I'm a librarian and teacher.

Cassian is incredibly good at this and does it so quickly. Through canon, he's constantly adjusting and I think when he's feeling more uncertain, he uses Kay to help him get back on track. A lot of their conversations are anchors of where they're flying or using the mission to go, this is where we're headed, aspects have changed but not that. I'm using the one icon I have for Cassian that I call calculating as its him truly thinking on the fly.

Quentin has learned to be so much better at adapting since he met Toby, in the first book, he spends a lot of time going huh then figuring it out. He starts out using this is how things are done to help him out but by later books, he recalibrates by Toby and the Luidaeg, how worried are they, that tells him how he should shift.

Charles is another who's very good at recalibration but he also uses his telepathy to cheat and figure out what will work. That way he's always in a position to know what to do.

Moist loves changing as things go, he rides it like adrenaline.

Sameth isn't great at dealing with change, in certain forms, he can adapt, in a fight, in something he's working on but when it comes from places like the whole Abhorsen situation or politics, his anxiety gets in his way.

Ivan is a mix, Barrayar is full of how things are done and he knows all of societies rules and the military's as well. But he also is Miles' best friend which means he's actually really good at recalibrating, its just accompanied by complaining.

William is decent at adapting, not as good as some of my others. In some situations, he's better at it such as anything to do with cattle and in fights, emotional and society stuff, not so much.

Will S. is another who's very good, that's what helped him survive and then become a Merry Man. It happens quickly and I don't think he even realizes how much he does it.

Demeter is a mixture, she's adept at shifting with the centuries but there are aspects of her that never change either.

Tumnus is okay at it, he tends to stick with what works but Lucy helps him be better at adapting.
