Wednesday DE: What if...

Many of us have these headvoices they used to play and retired, or have written in fic  but not RPed which are still a background presence in our minds.

Bring them out!

Tag in here as if the tag was an EP, then tag out to others, and go wild. I am turning notifies off, so no limits.

Except: please no characters that are presently extant in Milliways, only complete retirees or no-shows. Also, assume they have been to the bar before,  no first entrances. Have fun!!

ETA: Of course you can tag the visitors with your current pups, too, especially if it's somebody you've missed or would love to see!

"Just a... I hope you're joking." Wedge retorts, incredulous, his Corellian accent thicker with the shock of his disblief. "Just an Intelligence officer, you're mad."

"No, look I've been out hunting intel for a while and I don't know why you'd even know what I do. Did something happen on base?"

If he can just find the right question then he'll find some answers.

"... Be... cause you're dead? Wedge replies slowly, confused. "Though some say you got away, deep cover."

[childofrebellion]

"I'm not dead. Got away from where? I'm on my way to Kafrene and then when I have all my intel back to Yavin. Was Yavin attacked? Is this Milliways messing with time again?"

Its more than he would normally say but this is an Alliance pilot.

"... Wait, messing with time?" Wedge echoes, looking confused. "What do you mean?"

Cassian rubs his neck, he's met people from his past. Someone from the future makes sense, he just doesn't want to think too deeply about a future where he died. He's not surprised by it happening but those thoughts can wait, instead he can focus on explaining Milliways,

"Kriff, Bar, two Corellian whiskies, one of the slightly better ones. This cantina, Milliways doesn't work like normal cantinas do. Its in a kind of pocket of time and people come in here who are dead and living and from different eras. I've met Jedi from the Clone Wars here who are still fighting them."

The drinks appear in front of them.

"Ah, aha." Wedge contrives to look amazingly innocent. It's... not immensely successful. The Whiskey helps, in that he can keep his hands and mouth occupied. "Kafrene, huh?"

(OOC: I need to sleep, but Wedge is a delight. Until tomorrow.)

He almost smiles at the pilot's reaction, he won't ask questions about the future, that's best,

"Yes, I know someone there who has a lead on what the Empire's building. What do you fly?"

Ships are always a better conversation topic.

Wedge very carefully doesn't answer 'The Biggest Kriffing Space Station EVER'. It's a trial, really.

"Well, they have me back in an Incom X-wing, but I'll fly anything that'll hold atmo." Wedge shrugs, "I was off the pilot roster for a while, nearly drove me crazy."

"I'm sorry. Why did you get grounded?"

He's a pilot but all the starfighter ones he knows need to be up there more than anyone.

"Crashed an A-wing during a fight, snapped my leg in a couple places. Turns out they don't want their fighter pilots to hobble." Wedge replies wryly, sipping his drink. This is worlds better than the lum (or engineer-brewed hootch) he's been relegated to the last couple years.

"No, the medics always want you to take downtime, rest, which gets boring fast. How soon can you fly again?"

Cassian enjoys his drink, he's been having cheaper stuff while he travels.

"Well, we won't be doing much in transit, since who knows if we can get back on board in time if we get jumped. The powers that be seem to think we'll be settling down in a few weeks, but they've been thinking that for a few weeks already." Wedge explains, caught between wanting to be super helpful to this man he looks up to as a hero, and needing to be IMMENSELY vague.

"Oh yes, the constant wait to find out if this new base will actually be secure. I usually miss the transit part, off listening in somewhere else to make sure no one else knows,"

He takes a longer sip, that part usually involves killing informants who've been talking who shouldn't have.

"You're not missing much." Wedge reports drily. "It's... pretty routine. And the view isn't great."

"Hopefully routine means safe. I know, my droid sometimes would complain about it to me when I was out on a mission and he had to stay and help move things."

[rogue_wraith]

"You droid would complain about being safe? That's... one kinda maladjusted droid." All of the astromechs Wedge has been saddled with bitch constantly about safety margins and predictable routes.

Cassian smiles as that's a good description of Kay,

"He is, he's a reprogrammed Imperial Security droid and he would much rather be out with me where its dangerous and loves telling me the odds against us."

"Huh." Tall security droids tend to stand out more than base humans, especially on Rebel bases. Wedge is pretty sure he's seen this droid, or one like him, more than once.

"Getting a little vengeance on his former owners?"

"Kay's hard to miss. Yes and being my back up. We make a good team he's not easy to get along with if you're not used to him,"

There have been many times when Cassian's had to try and defuse situations because Kay is being Kay.

"Seems to me most droids are hard to get along with, if they're not constantly on a restraining bolt. Sometimes they're more trouble than they're worth." Wedge has met enough of them that he wanted to pitch out of an airlock that he's fairly unimpressed with them as a group.

Cassian shrugs, he likes droids as droids don't hide what they're thinking, "Most of them tend to be too honest or too loud and astromechs are far too quick with their tools sometimes."

[rogue_wraith]

"Or too crazy. Most are too crazy." Wedge... really isn't impressed with droids. It'd take one hell of a droid to change his mind.

While Cassian spends most of his time around one, which means time to go back to talking ships, "I don't think I got your name or squadron."

"Wedge Antilles... Rogue Three." Wedge supplies, even though he knows now that's not a squadron Cassian will recognize. Yet.
