Sunday Indulgences

It's Sunday again, Milliways, and you know what that means...

How was your week in roleplay? Did you EP a new character? Finish a slow time, advance a plot, engage in shenanigans? Did you read an awesome thread you want to show some love?

Tell us about it!

I had a mental TWELVE HOURS of snow today. That never happens in England! And then I got home and there is zero snow, and I am very depressed about it. Just sub-zero temperatures, and everything is grey. D:

I'm wishing we had snow for the first time ever. It's been too warm to snow for a week and inversions have settled in, to the point that they're warning people with heart or lung problems to stay indoors. Snow would clear this mess out. Or rain. I would also take rain.

But global warning's not real...*

Ooh, what's an inversion? Never heard of that before (probs because we rarely get interesting weather over here). But ugh, that does not sound good. Hope you and yours are okay, mate. <3

(Lol yeah, not real at all. :/)

It's basically higher-altitude smog that settles into the valleys and just lingers.

...that sounds like it sucks. Snow is better than that. but then, snow is better than p much everything. :D

It is very bad, hence the health warning. I love a clear blue sky on a wintery day, but when the sky is this hazy and it's hard to breathe, I'd rather have snow. And after 24 years here, I'm done with snow.

I can dig it. I am speaking as someone who sees snow approximately once every three years, for about half a day. I can imagine it's more annoying if it's a regular thing.

One year it never got cold enough for snow but rained a lot. That was an amazing winter. I could live with that.

That sounds like an average-ish winter for my neck of the woods. Usually we have snow at least once in December or January, but it's also common for the snow to be only a couple centimeters deep and melt in about two days. Otherwise it's rain, and lots of it.

I basically grew up under the perfect conditions to love snow, because it came along only as a rare treat, generally not in sufficiently massive quantities or accompanied by low enough temperatures to be majorly dangerous (except if you were trying to drive on an icy road), and could maybe, once in a blue moon, get me a day off from school.

I grew up in California, so snow was a treat for most of my childhood, something we had to travel to actually see. Living in Idaho and then Utah has put me off snow permanently.

SAME. It's been worryingly dry up here in the rain forest. Do we want another summer where everything is on fire? Because this is how we get another summer where everything is on fire!

It had better start up with the grey and miserable weather real soon, because this dry, sunny bullcrap has got to go.

I know, it's such a dichotomy. On the one hand, snow is a PITA and dangerous under the wrong conditions, on the other you really don't want a burning season.

It snowed down where my mom lives, but up here we got like 2 seconds of it. It's so dry our ski resorts havne't even opened. Our river runs on snow melt and we have a ton of farmers along the Rio Grande that rely on that water to you know, live. So, yeah I'm worried.

A few months back, when I first found Milliways, I went on an archive binge, and found that old Millific42 thing you guys used to do way back when. To cut a long story short, I've just finished writing the last prompt, and if anyone's interested, I've got at least twelve thousand words of short stories to share.

If you post to AO3, there's a Milliways tag.

Oh, awesome. Thanks for telling me, I've got an A03 account. I'll post them on there when I've done editing them.

Funny you should use that icon, because I was in Sebastian Stan's presence last night at a movie Q&A. He is a flawless human being.

Also, his hair and beard are glorious in person.

Yes, it was! And it was surprisingly good!

Well, my Wraith is hurt badly from the Balrog attack still, and I am actually happy that one of my !plots is coming together.... kinda. The worst part is that I'm one of the people with a late submission because I didn't realize how hard a simplified Christmas tree was gonna be to draw. I will get it done soon, no fear. I suspect the ornaments will be super easy, as I will probably draw one of each and then copy and paste. Bwhahahaha.

Not Milliways Related: Also, I have decided to buy a place to live. This is huge and I'm afraid I won't be able to get the financing I need, but at least half the fence is still on the lot. There is a LOOOOONG story about it and I doubt you all wanna read that. Just keep your fingers crossed and pray to higher powers that I can do this!

I gave Danny a visit from a Ghost of Winter's Past and this week he'll get Winter's Present. Yeah, he's getting all three.

Also, Sabine is trying to find out how far news of a jedi has spread from Cassian, without giving anything away herself. I suspect she's going to end up retreating pretty quickly as Cassian is the more skilled when it comes to this sort of thing. I just hope she doesn't give too much away.

I also submitted a drawing for the Advent thing, which I'm actually happy with. It has been so long since I've drawn and been happy with the results.

In RL, I'm 11 days into a 30 day yoga challenge, and I'm pretty happy with the results so far. I am having knee troubles (more from sitting and driving too long), so I need to work in stretches as well.
