tuesday de: shinies!

It is holiday time! Your character has to decorate! How much do they decorate? What does it look like? What holiday are they decorating for? How long do they leave it up? Are the decorations edible?

Excuse me while I go contemplate the difficulty of gingerbread houses...

Tess decorates a lot. She has Luthorcorp to supervise and she decorates Luthor mansion as well. Both are fairly elaborate, but tasteful, displays.

Rose has a small tree with some cheap decorations. She likes it, but wants to make it better as the years go on.

Kylo and Sikozu don't celebrate and wouldn't if they had occasion to.

I don't know. Daniel I guess decorates for Christmas, maybe.

Cisco - At his point in canon right now Cisco kind of dreads the holidays. Spending time with his family is seriously not the greatest. Between his parents who just don't get him, and his superstar can't do a damn thing wrong jerkface of a brother (Cisco loves Dante, really, he just doesn't like him overly much), the going home for the holidays thing kind of stinks. But, moving forward with his found family in Team Flash, Cisco gets into the spirit and when Christmas rolls around in the next couple of years for him he goes all out and gaudy decorating S.T.A.R. Labs.

K-2SO - I... don't know, actually, I guess if Cassian says so, but probably not.

Barry - The West family loves Christmas, and from the time Barry came to live with them, Joe and Iris have always gone the extra mile to make it really special to help Barry through knowing who isn't there to celebrate. As a result Barry gets big into the holiday and together with Joe and Iris they do the West home up right. A big tree with lots of keepsake ornaments from over the years, garland and tinsel and lights, the whole shebang. Not too much edible in the decor, but part of the family tradition is Joe making an eggnog recipe from his grandma that's guaranteed to warm the spirits (because it's full of them).

Matt - Matt doesn't do any decorating. In fact, left to his own devices come Christmas he would maybe go to Mass and that's about it. But, thanks to Foggy, he gets a much better holiday experience with the Nelson family. They go all out with food and festivities, decorations and I'm sure ugly sweaters, and Matt genuinely loves all of it.

Charlie - Charlie's idea of celebrating the holidays is drinking more booze that warms the insides.

Logan - He leans towards Charlie's way of thinking, but because of the people he's surrounded by, he gets dragged into more traditional, healthier, celebrations (which, don't let him fool you, he enjoys). He doesn't do much decorating personally, but doesn't protest the holiday decking that goes on around him.

Hellboy - Much like everything with Red it depends on his mood. He either does nothing, or does ALL THE THINGS. When he does all the things the Bureau looks like it was hit with a North Pole nuke, lights and garland and inflatable woodland creatures, and quite possible an actual reindeer or two. His main motivation isn't so much the holiday spirit, though, as he's bored and wants to get a rise out of Manning.

I don't think Cassian really celebrates anything. He avoids downtime which is when things like that happen and usually isn't on base that much. The only things I can see happening are connected with cooking, making something for an occasion on base or eating something while on a mission. I can imagine though some interesting conversations between Cassian and Kay about holidays with Cassian maybe being more open about how they remind him of what he's lost.

My entry into the Advent Calendar is basically this DE for Sahaal, so let's just say 'unconventionally' here.

Despite his current default icon, which just amuses me, Wilford gives no fucks about holidays. He may come in to find someone's stuck a bow to his computer or something, and then he'll be so lazy it hangs around until the spring until the glue finally gives up and it falls off.

Emcee will celebrate whatever you're celebrating, as he doesn't really have a preference unless it's New Year's. New Year's is his jam. But rest assured that his decorations whatever the holiday will be sparkly.

Pam is not decorating a goddamn thing. Except she would be really good at creating a dark and creepy winter vibe. (Kind of like that one infamous pic of Melania's White House decorations.)

I think Cassidy would like Christmas in a secular, ironic way, so his decorations would be offbeat and blasphemous. He's also the type to leave them up until March.

Floki celebrates Jól, so I'm not sure how Vikings decorated, but there were several days of beer drinking and weeks of feasting and animal sacrifices to the gods. So yeah, however you decorate for that.

I like this topic, I'm just not getting any answers. =(

ETA: And some wisdom I saw online about gingerbread homes: if you have trouble with the house not staying up, just add a dinosaur and it becomes an awesome scene of destruction.

Gabriel likes to at least get a tree up, a small fake one. It isn't well decorated and stays up long past Christmas, but he feels like it keeps in touch with his family's traditions. He still goes home for Christmas so he tends to just enjoy letting the rest of his family go crazy with it.
