tuesday de: laser sword

You all know why.

(Some of you very much know why.)

So! What is your character's Star Wars personal weapon of choice? And I do mean one that can be carried. Machine guns and death sticks and grenades and such count; vehicles and similarly sized weapons do not. (ps: don't forget color! lots of nifty star wars weapons have colors, not just lightsabers!)

And for those who already live there: if they didn't use their weapon of choice, what would they like to learn to use? Or tell us all about their weapon, the chances there's headcanon about it or Wookieepedia on it are basically 100% in a world where half the random items seen on screen have names and backstories.

Oh, goodness, this is tailor-made for Baze, as he (and I, let's be real) can talk about his gun for days.

First, I'll just quote the Wookieepedia page:

"The MWC-35c "Staccato Lightning" repeating cannon was a heavy repeating blaster manufactured by Morellian Weapons Conglomerate. Powered by condensed K-grade conductor cells and cooled by a tankage of R717 refrigerant (ammonia), the MWC-35c had a capacity of 35,000 rounds when fully charged and had two fire modes: a standard mode which fired at a rapid rate and a secondary mode which was a single-fire power shot. In the standard mode, the MWC-35c's electroscope's smart targeting array took into account the user's position and facing, grouping shots into bursts to maximize hits on specified targets. In the secondary mode, the blaster's lower barrel collected energy into single shots primed by a pump-action foreguard. Both modes drew from the same power source, but yielded different levels of destructive output."

And from the Visual Dictionary:
  • "Baze’s heavy repeating blaster gives him a sense of retribution, which, like the ammunition cells that power his cannon, requires constant replenishment."
  • "Baze’s repeating cannons use an internal cycling lasing array to increase the operational lifespan of the internal componentry. The equivalent of FIVE (5) laser rifles’ worth of destructive output streams through the weapon. To better fit this amount of technology into a compact frame, much of the hardware is externalized, distributed through a flexible belt and backpack-carried cooling and power cell. Baze’s weapon is clearly illegal for civilian use (O RLY?), but laws on Jedha have become meaningless in times of survival and insurgency."
  • The blaster has a "static-grounded cannon muzzle"
  • the thing that connects it to the backpack is a "Galven-circuitry flexible charge belt"
  • the generator has an exhaust vent
  • those double-holed things under his red armor are "high-density power cells in carriage frame"
  • the weapon weighs 30kg (66.1387 lbs), which is a heck of a lot for a gun

Other nifty facts about this gun:
  • his pilot buddy Denic from the Guardians of the Whills novel built the coolant tank
  • Baze modified all his blasters himself to punch through stormtrooper armor

I just have a lot of feelings about Baze being a one-man army, okay

Baze is definitely a Tank class.

He is, but his weapon works for long range, too, so he's probably a hybrid ranger/tank. Weird!

Out of the Overwatch tank characters, he has that in common with Orisa!

Wilford’s pretty interested in the concept of a blaster, but wouldn’t you know, nobody’s willing to give him one for some reason.

Emcee would only want some sort of a stun gun/taser-like weapon to use as defense as he doesn't want to kill or seriously injure anyone, so no stabby or shooty or slicey things.

Cassidy has had his hands on an unloaded blaster but he's a terrible shot so it's best that nobody gives him a loaded one.

Or something.

Emcee is 100% all about letting others do the dirty work if they really want to and/or enjoy doing that sort of thing. He'll just be way over there, hiding.

Cassian won't give Cassidy a loaded blaster. Cassidy's best weapon is his mouth. That sounds dirtier than I meant it but you know what I mean.

Jay would, (and has) rocked a pair of DL-44 heavy blaster pistol. Why? Because Han Solo. That's why. And they would be black with a red stripe. Also because.

Sinric has never been one for weapons. But I could see him being very graceful with a gold lightsabre.

Bodhi's weapon of choice is a tool kit. But if needs much, the laser cannons on the front of a small ship.

My knowledge of Star Wars isn't that extensive but I don't imagine his ideal weapon in that universe would be any different than what he uses in canon (daggers/spears). I'm sure he'd secretly enjoy the extra flash of those weapons being ~*~glowy light sticks~*~ tho. When it comes to combat, he's a very flashy boy.

Amascut is a generalist when it comes to weapons, but her favorite, if it counts, is magic/anima manipulation. I am sure that Force manipulation is not in the spirit of the question :P She prefers leaving a mess to clean elegant solutions so grenades are a good second choice.

Fairy Fixit will use whatever is handy, which might be limited to toydarian sized things because of her tiny hands, but dart gun/neural inhibitor would be her backup.

According to canon, Cassian has two main weapons, one that's almost too on the nose; a blaster that could adapt from being a blaster to a rifle. My headcanon is that this blaster required some finding and he relies on it the most. For him, the action of transitioning it into a rifle is important for getting ready to be a sniper as is taking it apart. He hates those jobs but having something that fits them helps create a boundary of sorts. His other main weapon is a sporting blaster that he's fitted with a silencer, its easier to hide and carry around. When he was younger, he used to carry a vibraknife. This is the only icon I have of it in rifle formation as the main moments in canon are dark and rainy, not great for icons.

Quentin in canon uses a sword, Fae don't kill, so I can see him using a blaster set on stun or a vibraknife.

William would use a blaster and possibly have a blaster rifle.

Sameth, I think if Sameth were in Star Wars', he'd be Force sensitive, not sure about a Jedi. I think he'd end up with some type of modified energy weapon, probably a blade versus a blaster.

Moist wouldn't carry a weapon but he would steal the charges and ammo for other peoples.

Will S. would use a blaster and a vibraknife.

In terms of weaponary, Vorkosigan isn't too different from Star Wars and Ivan's main weapon is a blaster and he often has a knife as well.

Demeter doesn't really need to carry weapons and Tumnus wouldn't.

I'm pretty sure that the Jedi all lived in fear of the day that Chirrut Imwe would get his hands on a lightsaber. Just sayin'.

[personal profile] forceimbalance 2017-12-20 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Naw. Lightsabers they know how to fight. But that bow of his is a type of bowcaster, meaning physical ammo, not just plasma blast. That makes it way less basic-deflectable (and what makes it capable of shooting down TIEs).

Chirrut's lightbow is hella scarier than another lightsaber user, that thing is a death monster of awesome.

While Tess thinks the ides of a lightsaber is fun, she'd prefer a blaster.

Rose shouldn't be given anything remotely dangerous. Double goes for Thorn.

Sikozu would like a lightsaber, thank you very much.

Kylo, well. Prefers his lightsaber cause that took some time, man. But I suppose a riot baton would do.

OK, a few days late but here we go...

Sabine has a pair of WESTAR-35 blasters; one painted yellow, the other blue. Canon doesn't give anything special about them, aside from the fact that Mandalorians seemed to like them. They don't seem too powerful in canon, so I've decided they are amazingly accurate.

Ahsoka has a lightsaber with a green tinged blade. Later, she gains another crystal and Anakin makes her a shoto lightsaber as a way to giving her more protection and playing to her natural skills. (He just wishes she'd stop with the reverse grip already.) The shoto 'saber has a shorter blade and is a yellow-ish green color.

Sam Wilson would end up having various droids as his weapons, were he in the SW universe. I'm thinking modified parrot droids, but I'm sure he would pick up a wide variety of flying or floating types.

And dang it, my brain is not working this morning for other answers.
