Friday DE: Wake up, it’s 1984

For whatever reason (robot uprising, return of magic, lose of magic, military coup by a fascist government, time being broken, alien invasion, global plague, etc.), civilization as your pup knows it is over. What do they do now?

God, Jim would love it. It'd be something new. He'd thrive, and probably take over a large portion of what was left - after all, he knows the underbelly of society, who'd be the ones rising up through destruction. He's got a hand in various governments, and he'd play the lot off against each other just to see what humanity would do next. He'd have no interest in actually rebuilding society again. A return to chaos...it'd be a dream. He'd enjoy himself so damn much.

Annnnd this is reminding me of that AU was planning to write one day. Heh, I might just have to. He'd have so much fun. :D

Mark would love to see Jim try to take over anything.

The end of civilisation in London/Earth would be v different from elsewhere, I should think.

Now I’m wondering what sort of hellscape London is. LA is a barren wasteland, but maybe London's friendlier climate was more forgiving on the surviving population.

If this had happened before Bastion wandered into a human town and was almost killed in the name of public safety, they might not even realise a second disaster had happened unless it was obviously a different kind of cataclysm than the Omnic Crisis (which was essentially a failed attempt at the 'robot uprising' one, in canon). Like if magic or aliens were involved. (I keep picturing a Half-Life crossover here, actually.)

After working with Overwatch, though, their conscience wouldn't let them not help, and it's probably what the other Overwatch agents would be doing if they also survived the collapse of civilization. They'd be protecting a band of survivors from bandits/dangerous wildlife/zombies/whatever other post-apocalyptic hazards were around.

inlovewithwords: Milliways roster: Lois Lane (teen, Gwenda Bond books); Tavi (Codex Alera); Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and R2-D2 (Star Wars); Evelyn Trevelyan (Dragon Age: Inquisition); Eriond (Belgariad/Mallorean) (Milliways roster 2017)

[personal profile] inlovewithwords 2017-12-29 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Eriond: probably miracles all over the place if needed and generally helping rebuild while becoming the new primary God.

Evelyn: refusing to die, trying to keep her friends alive, and somewhat unintentionally getting dragged into a bigger role in the fight and rebuilding than intended.

Lois: surviving, helping rebuild, probably like trying to help reestablish lines of communication and information.

R2: helping rebuild or rebel as necessary.

Anakin: probably the cause of the collapse and mostly not having to clean up his own mess, possibly by being dead.

Tavi: devotes his life, and those of several generations of his family after him, to building a new, multi-species, multi-cultural, more egalitarian society and laying groundwork both for defense against the next apocalypse and for an eventual change in governing to one that does not have an imperial ruling family. Also pushes for development of technology and academics and understanding of history while he is at it.

And, of course, all four of Evelyn, R2, Anakin, and Tavi's answers are close to or 100% canon.

Its kind of sad how many of mine have lived through this in some form.

This happened to Cassian throughout his childhood so he had a few different experiences. The first as a child was to rely on his father and to get angry at what he couldn't control. After his father's death it was to join with those fighting to help however he can.

Charles would immediately go into protector mode, using his skills to calm people and his home as a safe haven.

Quentin would be with Toby trying to fix whatever went wrong, which knowing the Fae probably involves taking down someone powerful who doesn't like Toby.

Sameth and his family actually stopped this happening but the Old Kingdom had its own version. He would be making devices and spells to help and fighting to protect his home and people.

Moist would be using all his skills to survive and be always on the move.

William would be fine, he'd keep doing what he does just with different dangers.

Will S. would also be just fine and would go back to fighting whatever created the trouble and protecting Nottingham.

Ivan would be in the midst of the fighting and helping to protect the Emperor, his family.

Demeter would be so angry and making sure there's food and making whoever did it pay.

Tumnus basically hid and tried to keep safe as that's what he did during the reign of the White Witch.

But how can she tell it's Tuesday? It could be Monday, or Thursday, or any day ending in a y.

Baze responded to a fascist government invading and occupying his home by learning how to shoot to kill. He went vigilante, took assassin's jobs, and killed as many Imperials as he could, losing his faith in the process.

Tess says "Not on her watch." Funny thing, this is an AU in canon. She joins the other side.

Rose gets captured/whatever they're doing with excess humans. Thorn isn't enough to get her out of this one.

Kylo caused it. *Anakin!Fistbump*

Victor's laying low until things settle. Then he's going to figure out how he can profit from it.

If civilization ends for whatever reason Gabriel is going to try and head back west, find his family, and keep them safe. He'd probably pick up a few stragglers along the way. After that he might start thinking about setting up someplace safe for people to live.

If this is further along in canon, such as after he becomes involved in Overwatch, then he feels a lot more obligation to try and keep as many people as possible safe. The fact that civilization has ended means OW failed, he failed, and he needs to set that right for as many as he can.

If this occurs after the fall of OW, then he likely floats around like an angry, vengeful ghost, punishing those he feels is responsible.

If it was a civilisation collapse without a cause that could be directly fought, Yamato would organise survivors and start work on the logistical elements of rebuilding society. If there was a fascist government or some other enemy, Yamato would slip pretty comfortably back into his role as fighty strategist guy and start working to murder that enemy with extreme prejudice.

Eden, meanwhile, would do what he's already doing: He'd go fight Heartless, irregardless of whether they're in any way related to the collapse of civilisation. He literally isn't able to care about civilisation dying off, or the human cost of that, and he doesn't have any fragents of memory for that kind of situation that can help him pretend to, so his concerns would begin and end at how much it impeded him hunting Heartless.

This exact same scenario almost happened for real in Graverobber's world, and he's already living out on the streets, so he'd probably just keep on keeping on by doing what he does best: selling drugs that he took out of dead people. :D
