Monday DE

I’m running late from a dentist appointment, so an easy one.

How well can your character fold a fitted sheet?

Poirot probably can, with some effort. (He is, after all, an antecedent to Adrian Monk.)

But no one else can come close. and I never see the point in it, anyway, since it's not like bedding is a shirt and needs to be wrinkle free.

Sahaal's a legionary, so as well as any soldier throughout history.

Khadgar is at a loss. What's a fitted sheet?

Gabe can manage it well enough but doesn't see much point in making it neat.

Very well, but that doesn't mean he ever would.

Not very well; they have zero experience with human bedding and only one actual hand, with the other arm ending in a gun. They have no idea why this is necessary in the first place or why they, in particular, have been instructed to do it when they're so poorly suited to it, and the best they're likely to manage is an uneven wad of fabric that won't sit flat on a shelf.

(Ganymede does not help hold the sheet. I know Bastion's been compared to a Disney Princess but I have to draw the line somewhere.)

Well enough that it doesn’t make a mess once it’s in the closet. He probably still does his own laundry just as often as not, despite having Autor there now. Technically, he really only hired Autor to cook for the dog anyway.

Ooh look at you fancy people with sheets and pillows and actual mattresses Graverobber would probably experience a 404 error if anyone asked him this question

Jemma can, and does, and doesn't understand why this is a problem.

Holtzmann can, and never, ever would. Why bother, it's just going right back on the bed anyway.

Oswin... probably could if she thought about it, but... nope. Folding happens to other people (like Jemma).

Glorfindel doesn't know what you are talking about.

Bones can, but is in the same 'why bother' camp as Holtzmann.

Katya doesn't need to, no self respecting sheet would wrinkle in her presence.

It's not fair, the author didn't answer even half of the questions he raised. Ugh. GO BACK AND WRITE ME PREQUELS, DUDE. *sulks*

Baze can totally fold a fitted sheet, though he's out of practice.

Tess can. She had enough practice growing up.

Rose couldn't get the hang of it even if someone showed her a million times.

Kylo... no.

Creed spent 100 years in the army, so yeah, I'd say he could.

Sunshine says it's not even that hard, really, once you know the way of it.

Yrael says he'd be much better at helping make the bed.

Sherlock can and doesn't.

Steve can and does.
inlovewithwords: Milliways roster: Lois Lane (teen, Gwenda Bond books); Tavi (Codex Alera); Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and R2-D2 (Star Wars); Evelyn Trevelyan (Dragon Age: Inquisition); Eriond (Belgariad/Mallorean) (Milliways roster 2017)

[personal profile] inlovewithwords 2018-01-16 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Eriond: Fine. Polgara taught him.

Lois: Not great, but passably.

Evelyn: lolwut

R2: No

Anakin: . . . Okay he actually can. But, uh. No.

Tavi: Can! Doesn't these days. People think he has more important things to do with his time than make his bed and wash his sheets.

Cassian: Yes, he has quasi-military training and I can see Draven making sure he knows. Also he's good about taking care of equipment.

Charles: Vaguely, he grew up with maids but has lived with Raven and is by habit neat.

Quentin: Yes and its probably fairly neat and compact too.

Sameth: No, he can put it away but there will be pieces sticking out.

Moist: He knows how to and will if he has to but would rather not.

Will S.: I don't think they were a thing in his time, but he can make a neat bed.

William: Same thing as Will, not really a thing but he knows how to keep his and his brother's bedroom neat.

Ivan: Yes, between the military and his mother, he knows how to fold every item of clothing possible so it doesn't wrinkle.

Demeter: No, why would she bother?

Tumnus: I don't know if they exist in Narnia but he probably could.

Emcee and Floki would be flummoxed by a fitted sheet but could quickly learn how to do it if someone showed them.

Cassidy has watched the Martha Stewart Show, so yes, he actually does know the trick to folding a fitted sheet.

Pam: no, because that's what the housekeeper is for.
childofrebellion: (laugh)

I love the image of Cassidy watching Martha Stewart.

The only time Aradia's even seen a fitted sheet is on humans' beds in the dreambubbles or through Trollian. If no one helps her with it, she might be able to fold it into some sort of compacted shape by trial and error, but it's not going to look neat and square.

Pfffft, I love it!

Enjolras: Nope. I mean, he could probably problem-solve his way to a reasonable approximation, sure, but it's not something he's got a lot of practice in. For one thing, elastic like that didn't exist yet in his day.

Cosette: On the one hand, Cosette has absolutely been trained and practiced in all kinds of household skills! On the other hand: elastic like that still didn't exist yet. I think she would find the entire process frustrating. She'd get it folded, but not as tidily as she would want.

Thor: Nnnnnope.

Kazul: has princesses for that.

Doctor Dinosaur: scoffs at your puny mammal bed linens!
