tuesday de: what's in your loot bag?

Your character has been to a convention! What purchases weigh down their bags when they're done shopping?

brought to you by going back to recovering-from-con sleep

Izana gets all the things, stuffing their bag to breaking and then carrying more.

ETA: OKay, expanding a bit. Izana is a sucker for anything urban legend like and will buy anything that hints of it. They'll take many pictures and will accept any freebie offered. Prints of Bruce Lee and other martial artists for the Honoka sisters, mecha models for Yuhata, and any food items or fandom cook books for Nagate.

Not sure about the others yet.

Ahsoka is now telling me she'd be grabbing lightsaber replicas, just for the laughs and there is some great crafting there, as well as any models of starships or the like for Anakin. Assuming she has the credits for it.

I can see her going for bracelets or bracers as well. I'm tempted to say charms for her padawan beads or akul head piece.

She'd also stop for any photos people want, until she got swarmed and needed to escape.

I have never been to a convention, so I have no idea what things would be available.

The last one I went to had planters shaped like Star Wars droids and stormtrooper helmets!

Steve would buy a piece from every artist in Artist's Alley.

Cassidy collects as much free swag as he can before blowing his entire budget on something huge and ridiculous and somehow manages to get celebrity autographs and selfies without paying for them.

I am horrible at conventions, because I am the opposite of materialistic, even when it comes to supporting art that I like. Or maybe I am good to drag to a convention, because I cringe at swag and discourage my friends from overspending. Oh God please don't buy me anything I can't eat!

At least panels are fun!

Well, [personal profile] fairy_fixit is the most likely of mine to be fannish and materialistic, despite my general con-fail. But she likes detective shows, so... uh... lots of posters and photos with actors and maybe fan art? Maybe toy models of iconic cars or other modes of transport from the shows? Clothes? It's a genre of fan convention with which I am unfamiliar.

If it is a teleportation engineering and science convention... uhhh... pens, stacks of stationary, stress balls?

For Amascut though... I have no idea. It depends on who she is pretending to be, I suppose. If she's at the type of con that actually has something she herself wants, it is likely that she'll steal it from whoever bought it.

Edible shiny swag is the best swag!

Gabriel probably picks up one or two big purchases of armor or weapons.

Khadgar is drooling over the leather journals and bags. And books in general. Maybe the BPAL booth.
iprotectyou: Baze smiling the tiniest bit (why hello there)

[personal profile] iprotectyou 2018-01-16 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing. Baze has spent too many years in poverty to consider buying anything. He'd only be at the convention because someone bought him a ticket.

Cassian would be fascinated and end up getting into conversations with various people and end up with a bag with a hidden compartment, some metal work that has multiple uses, spices, oh the spices and food. But mainly he'd leave with so many connections.

Sameth is running a booth selling his metalwork, jewelry and weapons. He works with someone who makes scabbards.

Charles spends all his time going between the various book stalls and buys some science cufflinks and art about DNA.

Quentin, hm, I think he'd be all about the food, books and possibly elegant and unexpected clothing items, at least one obnoxious shirt.

Moist should probably be banned from the convention as he tends to not pay for things but he ends up leaving with jewelry, a nice wallet and some lovely paper-stationery or old prints.

William will buy some nice jewelry for his mother, then spend the rest of his money on books and food.

Will S. will pick up spices, hard to find and talk with weapons dealers.

Demeter will end up with jewelry, lovely scarves and some new recipes and friends.

Tumnus will buy books, food and at least one new scarf.

Basically I and my pups have similar buying habits though I'm currently always on the hunt for interesting fandom/Star Wars' stuff.

configuration_birdwatcher: In-game spray art of Bastion running along carrying the tail in a dragon dance, accompanied by Ganymede (running along)

In their own universe, Bastion would have some problems gaining admission to a crowded public event, and would attract a lot of negative attention even if they weren't refused entry. In a close cognate of our universe where Overwatch isn't a massively popular fandom (either because it just doesn't exist, or because it's like 2015 and the game hasn't been released yet), they'd still attract a crowd, but for the completely different reason of being an awesome semi-giant robot walking around the convention floor. Which would be fun, but confusing, and become anxiety-inducing if the crowd got too dense or grabby.

If they were given some spending money - they've never really had money or personal property before - they'd probably buy things that their friends would like, although the only thing I can think of that would actually be sold at a convention is fandom scarves for Tracer. For themself, food and most kinds of clothing are out, but I could see them buying plushies and/or garden sculptures and maybe hats.

Enjolras: admires the passion of all these people but has to admit he doesn't really see the p-- ooh is that a bookseller?

Cosette: oh god. SO MANY ACCESSORIES. And books she thinks Marius or her father would like! And candies and baked goods for everybody! But really: so many accessories.

Thor: Mostly, Thor has posed for photos with about a zillion people, and signed things, and so forth. He might have bought clothing, if there was anything that he liked that fit him sufficiently well. Probably most of what he bought was presents for Earth friends. And maybe something Loki-themed, if it was sufficiently funny, and if Loki would find it sufficiently funny and/or annoying. (Either option is good!)

Kazul: Chocolate, and books, and potentially a massive jeweled helmet or something.

Doctor Dinosaur: SO MANY CRYSTALS!!!
