Digging into my stash of questions from character-development questionnaires and askbox memes, I find.......
What does your character think about before falling asleep at night?

Garnet doesn't actually need to sleep but when she does sleep, her thoughts right before are "I am going to sleep now." And then she's asleep.
Fantine, in life, thought about whatever happened that day (if it was pleasant; otherwise she'd try really hard not to think of it) and what she hoped for the next day, and what she had to do the next day (at various points in her life, that might have meant work on the farm, travel to Paris, hang out with douchebag boyfriend/friends, work in Valjean's factory, or engage in grueling sewing labor or sex work to support Cosette until her death). In Milliways, she mostly thinks about what fun and happy things she's going to do and when she's going to see Cosette next.
Combeferre thinks about the science of sleep, astronomy, politics, revolution, why he should definitely not get out of bed and start reading his book again, the fact that his book is right there on the nightstand, maybe he'll just read a little, oh look this is a really interesting part, oh wait it's three hours later, aaaand then flop.
Jehan Prouvaire recites some soothing type of poetry, or sometimes prime numbers, to himself.

(Occasionally he'll think of Jedha--and Killi Gimm, that little girl with bells in her hair, and all of the other people he knew that were vaporized--and that's never a fun night.)
