Quentin: Cats, true but also if he doesn't say that Raj will scratch him.
Charles: I think he's kind of a dog person, their thoughts are fairly direct and soothing, but I don't think he's had a lot of pets.
William: Horses, they're his life but he also likes them.
Sameth: Horses or cats, yes, Yrael was annoying and a pain but also there.
Moist: Dogs, he helped to train them as a boy so still has a lot of affection for them.
I'm not really sure about the others. Either animals are such a part of their life that picking a favorite doesn't work or they're not in their life in a way they'd think about a favorite.
When Ep VIII was filming the Rey-Luke scenes on Skellig Michael, Ireland, there were puffins. There were puffins everywhere. Massive colony of puffins and they are so amazingly cute. Thing is, they were so common that they couldn't actually get away with filming with the puffins not being caught on camera. And it's a wildlife preserve, so even if they'd wanted to be total assholes and kick the puffins out it was probably illegal.
Instead of trying to do the impossible and CGI-edit the puffins out of the movie, Johnson and his team instead opted to CGI-edit the puffins into the Galaxy Far Far Away.
So they basically put snouts on puffins and big forward-facing eyes--which is interesting as it kind of implies predator rather than prey--and it was the cutest damned thing and even Chewie thought they were adorable and the porgs do seem to have been exported off of Ahch-To so they will probably be an invasive species somewhere now.
They also have sharp, pointy teeth. Definitely predators; I wonder if its just fish (or which ever type of sea creatures swim in the seas of Ahch-To) that they eat.
That porg in scene with Chewie by the campfire might have been staring because it smelled something yummy.
