Weekend DE - OMG D :

Inspired by a certain movie...how badly has canon broken you before?

Do try to be vague in details or warn of spoilers and use white text or links if you must.

Oh boy.

Avoiding a certain movie... I played Charlie Pace from Lost for years here. When he died in the show, it was pretty hard to take at first, but I decided to have him die permanently in the bar as well since it felt like a good and proper end. I still miss him as a head voice sometimes.

Same with Ianto Jones, who I played for a long time, too.

In-canon deaths tend to kill heads voices for me a lot, it would seem, unless I start out the character as dead in-game.

I don't think many people are avoiding spoilers for Star Wars Rebels? But I'll white-text just in case.

We'd been working from the beginning under the assumption that Kanan would die in the final season. So his death wasn't a shock, we were pretty well-prepared for it at that point. And setting aside our misgivings about some of the circumstances, none of which were really about Kanan, we're fine with how it happened. But it was, still, upsetting when it happened. In part I think because when we started writing these characters with each other, we were really far apart (as in, opposite-sides-of-the-planet far apart), and even though we had talked and everything, writing these characters together was like an emotional opportunity for us to be together even when we were apart. So with that kind of emotional intensity involved, even fully expecting this outcome and being well-prepared for it, and really believing it was the right thing for the story – it was still pretty hard to take.

Overwatch hasn't really done that to me beyond some WTFing about abrupt mechanical changes (I'm glad I don't primarily play Mercy, Symmetra, Roadhog, or D.Va, since their playstyle has been forced to change a lot), but Homestuck has. After the Game Over flash I was making pretty much this exact face. That's pretty much the pinnacle of "rocks fall, everyone dies" plot twists the comic's thrown at us and then undone.

Also the ending was frustrating because it left almost everything hanging except the Sburb session and the defeat of the main villains and there's a bunch of characters who aren't even definitely alive or dead.

Season 3 episode 6 of Vikings was the worst, ever. Not even the Hannibal episodes 'Mizumono' or 'Wrath of the Lamb' were quite that heart-wrenching.
