tuesday de + reminder!

First up, a reminder that Star Wars Day is this Friday! There will probably only be banners up for the first day but y'all are welcome to play around with the toys and the animals for a few days (let's say no more than a week, hmm?). It will be fun!

As for today itself:

Player question! What kinds of visual media do you like to marathon? Got any particular cartoons or TV shows you go on binges with? Or are you someone who watches video games like TV shows?

(PS: If the answer is "I don't go in much for TV binges but I binge podcasts," do feel free to share that too.)

I’m someone who watches video games like TV shows. I love longform gameplay especially. The Yogscast are a go-to group for me, because they’ve got loads of triple-digit playlists for Minecraft, Garry’s Mod, and GTA. I’m waiting for Hannah to finish Far Cry so I can binge that. I’ve not decided yet if I’m going to watch her or JackSepticEye play God of War. It’ll probably depend on who finishes it first.

I need to find out when Game of Thrones starts again so I can rewatch everything a couple weeks before. I’m also really into documentaries, both nature and disaster porn. I’ve kind of exhausted everything good Netflix has in both categories, but YouTube has a lot of pirated stuff up. I’m also slowly going through what VRV has, and we have a few channels on Amazon with some good stuff.

I really don’t watch too many things with a complex plot, with GoT being the only exception right now. I’m not a person who can sit down and watch something. I get bored easily and will wander off, so any time I do watch anything, it’s done while I’m filming.

Game of Thrones returns in like late spring early summer of 2019, I think. You've got time.

Since I've cut the cable cord, I tend to do bing style viewing since the streaming platforms tend to have whole seasons, when the show is available. That said, I do find I need to be in the mood for binging any show whose average episode is longer than 20-30 minutes.

Top candidates have been: The Magicians (looking forward to season 03), The Expanse, Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, Knights of Sidonia (will there be a season 03?), Voltron,Runaways (though I stalled out about halfway through the first season), and The Gifted. I also mean to check out Westworld, I just need to see if Netflix or Hulu have it.

I did just finish bing listening to The Last Movie, which is a spinoff from Tanis and horror tinged. It was enjoyable, especially since it only had episodes and seemed to have an end, unlike Tanis which is kind of dragging for me.

Whenever I need to refresh canon I always find myself bingeing several episodes of True Blood even if I only meant to watch specific parts. I don't know why. It's like crack.

I can binge the first season of Preacher anytime, anywhere.

I recently binged Generation Kill even though war isn't my preferred genre. I watched it for the Skarsgard but stayed for the feels. Also it's actually compellingly written and filmed.

The first time I watched Stranger Things, I did all eight hours straight. It was awesome.

My go to binges though I haven't been doing them for a bit are Leverage, Clone War, sometimes TaleSpin and I've often been sucked into the documentary rabbit hole. The last show that I binged was Star Wars' Rebels in preparation for the finale, that's a hard show to do just one episode of. I want to binge The Expanse as I just read the first book of it and only started watching in the second and third season.

Yay for Star Wars' day, I'm looking forward to having fun with it and a confused and at times smiling Cassian.
