Monday DE: on the road again

What's your character's favorite way to travel? Do they get to do it often, or is it a rare treat? Why do they like it? What about their least favorite way to travel? Tell us everything!

Favourite way to travel - For Sahaal, jump pack. It might not get you very far, but for hopping around a city or a hive, there's nothing better than thrusters on your back. Long range, probably a dropship or an aeroplane. Anything that flies, and flies fast.

Least favourite - Definitely Warp travel. Given that it entails diving into the literal realm of the Dark Gods, he's not very enamoured of it.

Baze didn't travel much in his life--once to the uneti grove on Jedha, and a few times by hyperspace--so his favorite way to get around is just walking there. Hyperspace jumps are boring, and upset his stomach.

Autor's favorite way to travel is also walking. He doesn't like horses, cars are terrifying, and trains just go way too fast.

Amascut has spent lot of time at sea, so she at least doesn't hate it. The vast emptiness of the ocean far away from any land is... well, it's something she doesn't mind staring at for hours. Of course, she can easily teleport anywhere on the planet (well, her planet, at least), but does that really count as travel? You don't get to enjoy the journey. To spice up teleport spells she will sometimes calls up a tornado and rides it for a bit so I think she might enjoy flying/controlled falling as well.

The only interstellar travel she has done has been all teleport and portal travel, I suspect.

Fairy Fixit is a member of a species that developed teleportation abilities before developing sentience. It's just that it was short range and they treat it as a specialized way of flying. They treat longer range teleportation as some sort of magical technology, though. Teleportation does count as travel to the Zanarian fairies, since they have been doing it since forever. Fairy Fixit enjoys it, of course, because it is so fast. No journey, only a destination.

Enjolras: is not a huge traveler. On foot is his favorite; it may not be speedy over long distances, but you see the people around you in a way nothing else can match. (He'd be amazed by the technological progress on display in an airplane or car or even train, and he'd enjoy that experience, but it wouldn't become a new favorite for regular travel.) Foot travel even across France was still fairly common in his era, though more for poor workers than for people of his social class. If practicalities preclude foot travel, he'll do whatever makes sense for the situation, but he isn't much a fan of the stagecoaches of his era. They're uncomfortable, still pretty slow, and you're insulated from the people around you but not from most travel inconveniences. He kind of likes riding horseback, though he didn't do it much in Paris.

Cosette: has also mostly traveled by foot within a town or city. But fairly recently, she and her husband and father traveled to Italy, and she loved that! Ship travel was great! (She thought. Marius got pretty seasick, so she felt bad for him about that part.) Anything that lets her talk to people and see sights is great, especially with the wind in her hair. She'd probably always like ships a lot, but in a modern era she would love convertibles too. (As it stands, she'd probably half like them and half find them terrifyingly fast.) She doesn't much like stagecoaches either -- they're uncomfortable, they're slow, and you stay at inns, which she doesn't especially like either.

Thor likes flying via magic hammer, either directly or in a thunderstorm! He does it a lot! At any excuse, in fact! Failing that, he likes zippy Asgardian shuttles, or riding on a nice fast horse or other steed, or anything that one might expect a superhumanly resilient adrenaline junkie to enjoy. He's not wild about things like cars and trains and Earth horses -- they're so slow, though at least you get to chat with other people and/or animals as you travel. His least favorite, though, is traveling on foot (so plodding! the sky is right there!) and anything that has to be driven by someone else without giving Thor something to occupy himself with in the meantime.

Kazul flies. She likes it fine! That's... pretty much the only way she travels, unless she's walking instead (either because she's in a cave or something, or because she's keeping somebody earthbound company.) I think she'd hate traveling in an enclosed vehicle, but it hasn't really come up.

Doctor Dinosaur likes traveling by ill-advised contraptions of his own design, if he's not scurrying about. He probably also really likes putting on a trucker hat and driving a big rig; it's massive, dangerous, can ship so many crystals, and makes him feel very sneaky. His least favorite way to travel is with the stupid mammal robot in custody.
