Writing is tricky enough in the first place--and RP has its own kind of challenges. What's something about your characters that you wish you were able to explore more, or bring across better in your RP? It could be an underdeveloped streak to a character--the kind of thing that you just don't get a chance to do much with in RP--or something that you feel you just don't quite do justice to...

Finding time and inclination to play? ; P

Thinking on Hank, because that's where my head has been the past few days, I'd say how I'm not handling his walk-about. I had wanted to have him meet some of the movers and shakers of the 60s, but I just don't know the era that well. Also a lot of the action happens after he'd need to be back in Westchester. Still, I want to find some book or something to give me some ideas for him meeting MLK or Malcolm X, Timothy Leary, Gloria Steinem, Bruce Lee, and maybe some musicians as well; Hendrix or maybe The Doors.

I just want him to learn the views he has are limited and he needs to learn to look beyond them. I also mean to have him meet and help out other mutants with obvious differences than the human baseline.

Fight choreography is another thing I just struggle with.

Graverobber being super-meta is something that I haven't really attempted or done much with because it seems like it would be verrrrrry difficult to pull off in an RP, and particularly one in a setting so foreign to him. It's part of his charm as a character, his sort of impish understanding of everything going on, but it's not something that really translates into gameplay.

Also it is a pain in the ass to even consider anything regarding his name/history, because your options are never elaborating on them (which is my current plan) or inventing stuff. And I already did that once in an RP (I played V from V for Vendetta) but always felt like I was 'ruining' a mysterious character by robbing him of his mystique.

These were the same exact issues I had with the Master of Ceremonies. He is more of an omnipresent symbol and a storytelling device rather than a person with a backstory. When I first brought him into the game, I kept up that mysterious, enigmatic facade, but he eventually developed a humanity to him, which was necessary if I was going to keep playing him. So as he stands now, he has very different sides to him that he shows different people, depending on how close he is to them. I can still have him be elusive with some people, which is always fun, and more personal with others. It takes a little work keeping track of who knows what, but hey, that's my investment!

And he's so great! I've always really liked the personality and three-dimensional nature you've given him, especially since I loooooove Cabaret and feel like you've done a great job with him.

There are a few things that either don't come across very well, or that I'm just bad at remembering to do. Wilford's weird speech impediment is never mentioned, because I'm really bad at remembering to mention in, and then it's hard to describe, and typing that sort of thing out phonetically is irritating for everyone involved. So it's there. Just... never mentioned. That's a big part of the reason I'm having him get his jaw fixed though - so I never have to think about it again. I only took one thing from the retcon, and this is it. He didn't always have it. It's the result of something that happened, though I'm not using the retcon for the thing that happened.

In a more broadened scope, and it's something I've been trying to figure out for a while, is this weird disconnect he has with the general rest of the bar. I've been trying to use OOMs to explore his world a little more, and even go back and tell earlier parts of the story, to kind of build a paper trail for why he is the way he is. He's got this great, insane clusterfuck of a canon, and I just haven't explored it as well as I'd have liked to by now. There's a lot of stuff I need to go back through and see if I can expand on a little better.
