Substitute DE: With auburn hair and tawny eyes

How much attention does your pup pay to their hair and its styling? If they don't have hair, how do they feel about it? Heck, if they have hair, how do they feel about it?

(Inspired by icons of FFXV I'd just seen.)

None at all. If it weren’t for stylists doing their job, he’d go on national television looking like he just rolled out of bed.

Ellen sort of tries to keep her hair in a condition that fits under her helmet, and as clean as she can manage it without wasting resources. She's not a fussy person style-wise.

Shephard shaves his down to a proper high and tight on a regular basis and then forgets about it.

Varric finds it more important to keep the visible part of his chest hair clean and impressive than the stuff on his head. Also he carefully cultivates chin stubble.

El Santo wears a mask. Period. I mean, you watch his canon, he's wearing the mask as he's reading in bed. Hair does not come into the picture for him.

Amascut is very vain about her hair. This lioness has a mane and she is damn proud of it. She doesn't even bother hiding the unusual color of her hair when she is disguised; she just *glamours* people into believing that it is completely normal for someone from her part of the world with her complexion to have hair THAT red. Also that it is completely normal for her hair to sort of blush into a hot pink color when she gets emotional.

The styling of her hair is an important part of her disguises, too, so there's that. She isn't overly protective of it, since she can quickly grow it back and she has a perfect excuse for how she does it: spells she borrowed from the Potterverse! :p

Now that I think of it, hair stylists in Runescape have to be working with some sort of hair growth magic. Maybe Amascut teaches it to someone and it spreads from there. LOL customizable character game mechanics.

Fairy Fixit, I feel, doesn't pay much attention to her hair, but she does keep it long, and I am sure that keeping it long is work. Plus, I imagine she has to pin it up and tuck it under her hat to keep it from getting caught in machinery. And short hair and very short hair is quite common among the Zanaris fairies so it's not like having long hair is in fashion or a cultural norm on Zanaris. She just likes having long hair.

Cisco: He is very vain about his hair, taking excellent care of his long locks. He shampoos, he conditions, and then he repeats, because that luxurious shine only comes through work. That said, he doesn't tie it down. His mane has gotta wave free, so it's rare that he'll pull it back into a ponytail or anything.

Barry: He's also particular about his hair, taking the time to style it every morning and definitely makes sure it stays that way throughout the day. In fact you'll notice when he frets, Barry often runs his hands along the sides of his hair rather than raking his fingers through.

Matt: Matt keeps his hair reasonably neat and professional, y'know, for a blind guy. In his words regarding how he combs his hair, "Honestly you just-- you hope for the best." Most of his care goes into what he uses on it. He definitely steers clear of obnoxious perfumey odors when it comes to shampoos, and doesn't like anything greasy or that'll weigh down his hair.

Logan: Most days it's a good bet that Logan just rolls out of bed and runs with whatever is going on with his hair. Like Ron Swanson, Logan owns A comb, and while he's hygienic he probably holds the same belief that if water alone is good enough for a grizzly bear it's good enough for him.

Hellboy: He's actually very fussy about his hair, what there is of it. Most of his time goes into maintaining his goatee and sideburns, but the rest of it is maintained with care, too.

Yamato: While fandom has this idea of him as someone who obsessively styles his hair, available evidence suggests he probably never bothers styling it. He is extremely particular about making sure it's clean and conditioned, though, and in general making sure his hair is healthy.

Eden: Legitimately doesn't care. He won't even bother getting his hair cut unless it's getting in the way of him seeing.

Gabumon: The fur pelt that Gabumon wears explicitly has to be removed and dry cleaned fairly frequently. It's not really stylable, but it requires constant upkeep. Bonus: Gabumon without his fur.
configuration_birdwatcher: Bastion looking down and to the camera's left, outfitted in the red, gold, and black Rooster skin. (skin: rooster)

Bastion: Is a robot, cannot grow hair. They don't have any desire to grow their own, but they find hairstyling kind of interesting as a craft, like topiary art. Tracer's the only one at the watchpoint who both has hair and puts effort into styling it. (Reinhardt will soon join her in the Cares About Hairstyling Club. Brigitte doesn't seem as invested but she has nice hair too.)

Aradia: Has been a robot with hair. Not at the moment, though. By Millicanon, trolls' hair is naturally more bristly and stick-uppy than human hair, as it happens. Aradia likes to keep hers very long, but doesn't extensively style it, just keeps it clean and lets it do its thing.

Like her cooking, Riza is very utilitarian about her hair. She wears it up in a clip when working, and down while in civilian clothes. Her hair is always clean.

Hera doesn't have hair. She doesn't have strong feelings on it, either - to her it's pretty much like a different species having fur all over their bodies, or more than two eyes, or tentacles. But she still likes to make fun of Kanan about his hair.

Kanan pretty much does the minimum to keep his hair clean and cuts it when it gets too long. Or Hera cuts it when she decides it's too long. He doesn't think about it much beyond that.

Orpheus doesn't really care, but he manages to look like his not caring was an intentional styling choice.

Eowyn keeps her hair clean and brushed and that's all she needs.

Alec...is literally described in canon as looking like he cut his own hair without a mirror.

genarti: Thor from the Marvel movies grinning unconcernedly ([mcu] golden retriever grin)

[personal profile] genarti 2018-06-28 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Enjolras: Nope. None. He cuts it when it's gotten too long and scruffy-looking (eventually), and he keeps it clean, but other than that he just kind of finger-combs it more or less into place and goes about his day. It drives certain of his fashion-conscious friends up a wall, because it still always looks good, dammit Enjolras.

Thor: A certain amount! He keeps it clean and brushed, and in a style he likes, and he changes the details of the style between every movie according to his mood and, uh, whatever contexts are hairdo-relevant in Asgardian culture. It's always more or less shoulder-length and mostly loose, and often he keeps part of it pulled back with a small clip and/or braids. Thor is, generally, very aware of image and fashion and sartorial signaling, and hair is part of that -- plus I think he enjoys having the ability to vary the details of his hairdo.

That said, for all I know he changes the look of it with magic or something, rather than having to do all those fiddly little braids, or sit still while someone else does them.

Cosette pays attention -- you can't be a fashionable young woman in her era without that! Given that she canonically says "why should I need a lady's maid when I have Marius? :D" she doesn't get as het up about it as some, though. (Marius is in many ways a good fellow, and Cosette loves him a lot, but I would not personally give him the responsibility for doing anything complicated with long hair without a lot more teaching. And 1830s women's hairdoes were very complicated, with topknots and ringlets and sometimes lots of ornaments and mini-braids and false hair and so forth.) So: she likes her hair, she likes doing fashionable things with it and primping and such, but she doesn't spend that much time worrying about it.

Kazul doesn't have hair. Kazul thinks it looks perfectly fine on humans, but she doesn't see the appeal especially, and she certainly doesn't want any herself. (She spends a fair amount of time either brushing her scales or, if possible, getting her princess to brush them, though. This is more of a scrub-brush situation, though.
But she is secretly kind of vain about her scales and keeping them shiny.)

Doctor Dinosaur specifically loathes mammals and calls them disgusting, filthy, etc, all the time, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he doesn't see the appeal of hair.

Ganymede has changed his hair....a lot. Like, a lot a lot. And he's usually pretty easy about it, cutting it and styling and so forth, as long as he isn't shaved bald.

Noriko on the other hand is really pretty vain about hers. She's religious about upkeep on the dye and the designs and the styles she keeps it in, though she isn't as wild as some people assume. She really really wants to keep it blue, though. (Sometime she should consult a magic-type about that...)
