 One last hint of AU, Milliways is now a pandimensional small town and everyone has nicknames. What’s your pup’s nickname and is there a story behind it?

 Alternately, since I was exposed to a kindergartener this weekend and am now sick, what comforts does your pup seek when they are under the weather?

Owl. Short for 'Night Owl', because no matter what Milliways is, Sahaal's going to be nocturnal. And probably working night shifts at some dive bar, but that's by the by.

(Is it me, or does having Milliways turn into a small town seem like a decent plot idea?)

As for the other one, he doesn't get sick. One of the bonuses of transhuman physiology. If he did, though, he'd hunker down in bed and watch films. With ice cream. And bourbon.

Most of mine already have nicknames... quite a few of them are their usernames!

Sam, for instance, has an in-universe nickname of Necessary Child. (He also has a few less repeatable ones, particularly as regards people like Odin whom he's previously been forced to knee in the groin in the interests of staying alive...)

A nicer one, though, might be Scruff, thanks to his own personal in-built Scruffiness Field. He occasionally manages to be dishabille, but never ever neat.


Molly has lots, mostly given to her by her siblings - that's how she originally wound up being called Princess Powerful. She'd possibly wind up as just plain 'Pink', though.


And this little one picks up lots of different names in her short time on Arcadia/Earth. Little Blue is probably my favourite, which is why it's her username. (She's also currently over in PFSB, hint hint hint. <3)

Although, this does beg the question... exactly what KIND of small town are we talking about here? Where exactly?

Because - for example - Welsh village nicknames are not quite the same as elsewhere, owing to a tendency for lots of Welsh people to have the same surnames. So the milkman is Jones the Milk, the undertaker is Evans the Death (or in one case, Perce the Hearse...), the guy driving the school bus is Powell the Bus, etc. etc. There are also comedy ones like Dai Central Eating (because he only had one tooth)...

That's pretty much exactly what I had in mind for this topic, though here in the US John would be 'Milky' not John the Milk.

I honestly can't imagine any nickname but Snipes for Ahsoka, expect now it's not because of her tongue or attitude, it's because for the life of her she can not cut anything to a proper length.

Sabine is Bean because on time she beaned a guy, who wouldn't accept no for an answer, right between the eyes with a baseball.

I'll have to see if any other nicknames occur to me, as the sickness is taking my focus.

He'd probably just stick to the one he has, heh. Though he could always do what Noriko suggested once and shorten it to 'Rob'.

Technically, 'Bastion' is a nickname, since that's what the range of models they belong to is called rather than their personal designation. Even 'E54' is just a more specific version of the same idea. (I call them Bastion because that's what canon uses in narration and menus and such, but they don't actually prefer one over the other, and E54 is easier to express in pantomime.)

They would probably answer to Murderbot, although that's a different canon, or Death Machine or Killer Robot, but those are a little on the long side and not exactly a side of themself they're proud of.

For Amascut, that would depend greatly on the details of the AU and if she were still more comfortable pretending to be someone else rather than being herself all the time.

But... just for fun, I'll throw some nicknames fandom has given her: Amascutie, Amaskitty, Ama, and Ami. I am sure there are others but reading Runescape fanfic hurts my sanity.

Fairy Fixit is already a nickname. She is a fairy and she fixes things.
