IC D&D!

Hi!

There was a lot of interest! Way more than I expected, honestly, so yay!

I have posted an EP for George to move his plot toward making this happen. He and I will have to do some research before we actually get to playing, but it's a good place to start ICly.

You do not have to tag this post in order to be involved in this whole meta-RP experiment.

However, if you have a pup who would never sign up to play a random game advertised at the bar, this might be a good way to pique their interest or at least familiarize themselves with the concept.

I will make more of this type of post before launching a campaign.

(Is that how you say that? I cannot emphasize enough, I have never played D&D. I have rolled characters for 3 other tabletop games, but never played more than one, very short session.)

If you have questions about this endeavor, please ask them here.

If you have advice or resources to offer, please, please leave them here! :)

Once I have a better idea of how to organize things, I'll do a proper sign-up post and look to scheduling something.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all for your enthusiasm.

What's your tentative timeline for when the game will be taking place? Wilford wouldn't touch this stuff with a ten foot pole, but he's got something coming up in the next couple of weeks that would make him accidentally sign up without realising what it is.

About two or three weeks out? It depends on how this week goes, and how his current cursed state gets resolved. But definitely by the end of the month either way.

Cool. Don't hold anything up for me, but I am definitely there if the schedules align.

Maybe divide participants into teams ahead of time so there isnt one big sprawling group? And then set up a single campaign that each team will tackle in their own distinctive way? I don't know!

I feel as if at least a quarter of the tags will be dedicated to coming up with clever team names.

As one who's DMed before, I feel you on the challenge of this many layers.

If it would help you at all, I'd be happy to skip the first session with Viv. She plays a lot of online games, so any excuse to try tabletop would catch her attention, thus any future games could easily draw her in. = ]

For use during campaigns, Wizards of the Coast has an online dice-roller which could be useful for participants. Also, random thought, I think it'd be cool for rolls to have real in-thread effects, like initiative rolls affecting tagging order during battles.
