D&D Sign-Ups
Hello, Milliways!
I have had some time to look over the basic rules and poke around various tips and tricks for DMing, and I think that I am ready to proceed with organizing this thing.
The details
I'm working on putting together a one-shot for 3-5 players. It sounds like we will have far more than can be accommodated in one group, so I will plan to run the campaign multiple times. ICly, this will happen because George's advertising strategy evolves.
My thought is that the first ad he puts together will be dramatic and talk about joining an adventuring party without being overly specific that this is a fictional thing. If your character would not join a D&D game but might volunteer to help a group of noble companions on a quest, this is a great chance to get them in accidentally.
The second ad, George will likely go much more dry and statistical. If you have a character who isn't big into fantasy but likes statistics or probability or gambling, this might be a good way for them to get in.
If we have enough for three groups, he'll put up an ad that's much clearer about what the game involves.
To save time, we'll roll characters well beforehand. ICly, George will have premade character sheets, but you are welcome to either create your own or let me do so.
What I need from you!
If you would like to have your character in a game, please leave a comment here with:
- Character name
- Time Zone & usual RP time of day (I may not end up taking this much into account, but I will try to keep it in mind!)
- Ranked order of which group you'd prefer to be in (1, 2, or 3) in order of most preferred to least preferred
- Whether you would like to create your own character or have me do it for you
ETA for clarity: ICly, George is providing pre-fab characters for everybody. If your character would show up with their own, awesome! Let's do that. Otherwise, George will have one. OOCly, I can roll your character or you can create it for your pup. For logistical reasons, no pups will be rolling their own unless they've done it on their own before the game.
- What, if any, tabletop RP experience you have (mostly for my own reference!)
- Anything else you think might be useful for me to know
Sign-ups will be open for a week, and I'll post a couple reminders before closing. After that, I'm hoping to start the first round a week after sign-ups close.
Thanks so much!
ETA: If you want to play, but you don't think your pup would sign up on their own, I'm happy to brainstorm ideas for how to make it happen anyway!

-EST, usually afternoon/vening
-1, 3, 2, but I really have no huge preference
-I had the idea that Graverobber would want to play a Tiefling Rogue, but I am super flexible about what he gets up to
-Technically none, but I watch a ton of Critical Role

Totally here for this
- Pacific (time of day depends on the day of the week)
- Totally flexible, as of the 22nd of this month. Put me where you need me
- He'd definitely have to have a pre-fab
- I've done a bit, but nothing serious, and not for a long time.
- Dungeons and Dragons does not exist in his world. He's going to sign up thinking it's something else entirely, and then wind up sticking around because of reasons

-GMT, predominantly afternoon/night.
-No preference at all, really. Eden is as likely to sign up for something statistic-y sounding as he is for something adventure-y sounding.
-I'm happy with either making it myself or letting you do it, depending on what's easier.
-Not quite a decade in various tabletop games, although never D&D.

- PST, usually in the evening, but sometimes morning, afternoon, way too late at night, other...
- 1, 3, 2 (2 would be hard, Cecil's not into stats really)
- ... probably you do it because...
- haha no experience I just know of this in vague and probably not-useful terms in that I know vaguely what the groups are and what they can do and that there's dice. >.> Winning!
- I promise to never, ever play an opportunity straight. :D Cecil will be the one trying to seduce the lock. Yep.

- Thor son of Odin
- EST, and these days I'm pretty flexible, honestly; midday, afternoons, evenings, or late nights are all fine. Mornings are unlikely, though.
- 1 if possible; it's by far the easiest sell, though we could probably swing 3. 2 he would nope out from except to kibbitz.
- I'm good either way!
- I've been playing with a local group of friends (mostly ex- or current Milliwaysers...) for a few years now -- never D&D itself, though I'm certainly broadly familiar, but a lot of Pathfinder and some other systems too. I haven't GMed so far, but I'm working on putting together a campaign for the near future.
- Depending on the details of how things go, Thor, uh, may or may not have a hard time remembering that the GM is supposed to be in charge. >.> Apologies in advance if so. But I will definitely work with you to make sure that George doesn't get more frustrated than you (and the other involved muns) find fun!

i tried so hard to think of reasons why loki could possibly work for this but theoretically i guess he's busy getting high on evil mind stones anyway

(but let us enjoy the mental image of how much he would laugh his ass off if he could watch and unhelpfully kibbitz)

- Central Time, usually more reliably in afternoon into evening until around 10-11pm
- 1, 3, 2, but I have no particular preference. Sunshine would find it easier to be interested in 1 and 3, certainly.
- I can roll up a character. Rae would definitely want to come up with her own character, anyway.
- I've long enjoyed tabletop RP, and have participated in a few DnD campaigns (even rolling up an AU Sunshine once in 3.5e ages ago, a half-elven druid/master of radiance) and in the past year or so I've followed a number of campaigns on Loading Ready Run's Dice Friends.
- There is probably a D&D equivalent in Rae's world, and she would be aware of it, even if she has had no experience playing it.

- Cassidy
- 3 definitely, 2 most likely (though he does know what D&D is, the dryness might deter him, but he'd still be curious about it)
- I'll make a character because he would insist on creating his own even if he has no idea what he's doing
- Floki
- 1
- Please give him a character that is SO COMPLETELY NOT a viking so we can see how long he can stay within its parameters
- Time zone: EST. I usually tag in sporadically throughout the afternoon, evenings, and wee hours of the morning
- I have no experience, ahaha. But I've been reading some of that D&D guide and watching some Youtube tutorials on the basics.

Name: Aradia Megido
Group preference: 3, 1, 2. She's played RPGs before, and she likes adventure outside of that, but the second one sounds like the kind of thing Vriska would like and that'd just put her off.
Character creation: Both Aradia and I can do that on our own, but if it's easier for you to make one for us then do that instead
Name: Bastion/E54 (short forms of their longwinded model name)
Group preference: 1, 3, 2, but not a very strong preference
Character creation: They'd definitely be better off with a prefab ICly so they don't get overwhelmed by the options, and I don't have a specific idea for what I want them to play as.
Joint, mun-ly info
Time zone: Pacific Standard Time. I keep inconsistent hours; I'm most predictably present and coherent between 6 pm and 4 am local time, but sightings have occurred in the afternoon and the morning proper as well.
Tabletop experience: Three New World of Darkness campaigns, two of which are ongoing; one long-running Pathfinder campaign in a homebrew steampunk-magitech setting; a couple of D&D 5e one-shots and a prefab campaign that we only got a few sessions into because of scheduling issues; read the first couple arcs of Darths & Droids and all of Order of the Stick. I've never DMed, only participated as a player.
Other stuff:
-My Promethean: the Created group meets on Saturdays, and that runs from about 3 pm to 8:30-9 pm, and my Changeling: the Lost group meets on Wednesdays at around the same time but gets cancelled way more and usually has shorter sessions. Basically I'll only be available late nights on most Saturdays and I may or may not be here Wednesday evenings.
-Don't put Wilford and Bastion in the same group, they'll probably trigger each other on contact.

- Time Zone & usual RP time of day: mountain time, afternoons and evenings
- Ranked order of which group you'd prefer to be in: 1
- Whether you would like to create your own character or have me do it for you: I'll create one
- What, if any, tabletop RP experience you have: I played D&D about twenty years ago (about when 3rd edition came out)
- Anything else you think might be useful for me to know: I currently listen to a real-play D&D podcast so i'm familiar with the current edition

- Pacific Time Zone, usually day time, Monday thru Friday.
- You seem to have a lot of 1's, so I'll go with 2 and 3
- I'm good with pre-generated, but if you'd like the help, I can make my own easily enough.
- Too much? I started gaming in the early 80s and have played with many different systems.
- Viv should likely not be in a group with Wilford, for the party and Wilford's sake. They haven't met, but see Wilford's issues with robots. Editing to add: Also, Viv canonically plays online MMOs like the MU's World of Warcraft. I'm spinning it so that she's aware table top games exist but she hasn't been invited to any so has no experience with them.

Two-for-one!
- US Eastern, probably mostly evenings/weekends.
- 1 or 2 equally, honestly I could make any of the three work
- I'll do my own char gen, and... actually, tbh? Tavi would probably want to do his own character gen too. He would absolutely sit down, read a rule book, and start doing things. Reading the rule book and trying to figure out how to character build would be a large part of the fun for him, really.
- Tabletop gaming on-and-off for almost ten years in a few different systems with minor GMing experience, also lots of LARP experience including GMing/writing
- Also submitting R2 for consideration!
R2:
- US Eastern, probably mostly evenings/weekends.
- Could make any of the three work! No preference
- I'll do my own char gen, again, and R2 DEFINITELY wants to do his own. He'll just literally download all the relevant books from Bar and run an optimization program. No, seriously.
- Tabletop gaming on-and-off for almost ten years in a few different systems with minor GMing experience, also lots of LARP experience including GMing/writing
- Anakin can come with R2 if people want him around! Also, honestly, R2 is less important for me to do this than Tavi, so like, if there's not room for 'em all, Tavi should get priority.
