Bastion has basically no cooking experience and a pretty elementary knowledge of the principles involved, but can't really go to the grocery store and buy something, so they'd try to get more specific parameters from the host than "some kind of food" - solids or liquids, sweet/savoury/spicy flavor profile, suggestions for major ingredients - and then look up an appropriate recipe on the internet or ask the other Overwatch members for one, and follow it as diligently as possible. If this is happening in their world rather than in the bar, then the recipe has to be something that can be done in the Watchpoint: Gibraltar kitchen, which is probably equipped to make lots of food at a time but nothing too esoteric or fancy.
Aradia makes something with the sort of ingredients she used to keep around her hive, because she didn't have much money growing up on Alternia, and while her previous living situation is no longer a constraint she still has some of her old habits. I bet it'd be a large batch of finger-food snacky things. Given that this is Alternia, land of the violent puns, it might be made of real fingers. Also it likely involves bugs somehow.
Cirava's from the same planet and loosely defined region of it as Aradia, though a little more affluent and with more colorful tastes. I feel like they'd bring some kind of troll junk food that's loaded with artificial flavours and colours. (Not Faygo, though. The troll version of it is alcoholic or similarly psychoactive even for humans, and has minor religious significance to the purplebloods' clown cult.)
Dr Thurlow is an awful cook. Furthermore, they live in a city where genuinely palatable food is scarce, and most of what qualifies as palatable is either some kind of weird eldritch produce/seafood (zeefood, more accurately) or imported from the Surface and thus pricey and not super fresh. (What's left over is mushrooms.) Even if they were a good cook they wouldn't have much to work with. Maybe they'll just buy a big bag of Rubbery Lumps, which are made of fried sea monsters soaked in haunted well-water. They're the closest point of comparison Thurlow has for the taste of fried paradoxes.
As for me, if it's not important to the host that I make the dish myself, I'm going to buy some junk food that's a fairly reliable crowd pleaser, like Oreos or potato chips. (Possibly at the last minute/on the way over.) If I expect a lot of people to bring the same type of thing I'll try to supply something else; once I brought drinks because I expected most of the guests to bring solid food, massively overestimated how many people would show up at all, and had to cart about 20 cans of Dr. Pepper back to my house after the meetup. On foot.
Can't say I've ever been to one (at least, if I've properly understood what a 'potluck dinner' is). They're not really a thing in the UK.
Most of my characters are British or British-based, so ditto.
Molly... does not cook. Seriously. She's banned from the Milliways kitchens for an Incident with either a meringue or a souffle. LittleMoll would probably bring cupcakes, as they're about the only thing she knows how to make.
Nobody wants to try anything War would be capable of making, but it would probably be absolutely beautiful and incredibly sickly sweet. The sort of sweet that seems enticing until you actually try it and then realise it's too much, far too much, and you just feel sick.
Raoul has never tried cooking - that's what servants are for - but would probably be unexpectedly good at something 'girly' like cake-making.
Cassian would ask to find out what's wanted and could reliably bring something hearty and spicy like chilaquiles or would love the chance to make something dessert like. He doesn't get a chance to make them very often as sweet ingredients are harder to reliably find than savory.
Quentin would go out and buy cupcakes or donuts or junk food for everyone. Or maybe make pasta, I think he can do that or sandwiches.
Charles would go and buy a nice cake.
Sameth would ask the kitchen really nicely to make him something but I think potlucks aren't really a thing in Ancelstierre or the Old Kingdom.
William would help his mother make something or bring some steaks from one of their cattle.
Will S. would bring fruit from Sherwood or something Tuck brewed up.
Demeter would bring beautifully baked bread.
Moist would con a very nice pastry shop out of a delicious selection of items.
Ivan would order a selection from a nice quality grocery store or restaurant.
Tumnus would make something sweet and warm depending on the season probably scones.
I love cooking and use going to parties or potlucks as an excuse to make something I've been thinking about. The last thing I did was brought over brownies that I'd made with either peanut butter or jam mixed into them.
Sunshine would likely bring a vegetarian main dish (in case there isn't much else she can eat), and a selection of baked goods. Probably rolls, plus cinnamon rolls as a dessert offering.
Yrael would bring himself, and figure that would be enough. If he likes the people, he might bring a good bottle of wine.
Rumor would bring additional guests, as the potluck announcement would get more widely circulated than expected.
Zelgadis has never been to a potluck, but would probably be the equivalent of the guest who stopped by KFC on the way there: wanting to get into the spirit of the thing, but lacking cooking skills.
I like bringing deviled eggs. They're quick to make and generally disappear pretty quickly. In some places in the South, it's debatable whether or not a potluck can call itself a potluck if no one brings deviled eggs.
I will more than happily post Ellen in with crabmeat, and potentially mutant lobster* meat, if that works for you.
(There's a kind of mirelurk in Fallout 4 that looks very little like the others; general consensus on the Fallout wiki is that Commonwealth mirelurk hunters are mutated lobsters rather than mutated crabs. It's New England, I'd be sad if there were no lobster presence in the area, so I'm going with the assumption that at least a few 'sea centaurs' were among the things killed at the Castle.)
If it’s one he’s been invited to, Wilford brings a couple bottles of nice wine. If it’s one he’s organised, he arranges catering.
As for me I’ve started going the path of least effort on the last few years. Every time I make something nice, it gets completely passed over. I will bring the lefse and krumkake and little else.
And now I’ve just realised that I’m the only person left in my family who knows how to make these things, and my plans to yolo out on Thanksgiving may have been foiled.
Ahsoka would bring rations with a yummie sauce. It's all she'd have access to, though I guess she could hit a market for something.
Sabine: Fresh fruit! A fair percentage of which would be bitter to make sure Hera had something to eat. Other wise caf maybe? (Sorry, the only food given in canon aside from space waffles was meiloorun, which was for Hera. Also, Kanan is human and likely to be taken care of.)
Danny would likely bring something from a favorite restaurant. I think that meal he brought for Colleen was Italian, so I'll go with that.
Viv would bring a casserole. Based on research, that is what is expected.
Hank would bring chips/crisps I think? He's not much for cooking at this point...and maybe in canon.
New pups: The Disreputable Dog would bring fish (and this is totally not as a favor to Yrael. Not at all....really.)
Jessica Drew: Guacamole. If you're lucky she might bring tortilla chips as a delivery device.
As for me, I tend to see what others are bringing and go from there for what needed bringing. I like to make things to balance, so if there's lots of comfort foods, I'd bring salad or fresh fruit. Savory for sweets, etc.
Cecil would either bring one of those ubiquitous salads that are a bunch of pre-measured cans and bags of things mixed into a bowl, or some ridiculously complicated dish he can't justify making for just himself. Still trying to figure out Cecil's cooking talent levels.
The current favorite for me is havla tahini chocolate brownies - they are the bomb.com.

... it's going to be a while before the meat from the mirelurks killed at the Castle runs out.

(As for my pups: Thurlow would at least be unfazed by the prospect of weird shellfish, the troll kids might be interested, and Bastion abstains.)
